Chiefs TE Travis Kelce is expected to be back with the Chiefs, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com. It has been recently reported that Kelce may talk with other teams, but instead opted to stick with Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid in Kansas City. This likely remains the best case scenario for Kelce's fantasy potential in 2026 if the Chiefs' offense can get back to being a top producer this season. Kelce currently sits 11th in our redraft PPR TE rankings.
What They're Saying
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com: "Back for more: Chiefs future Hall of Fame TE Travis Kelce is expected to return to Kansas City for a 14th season, a message that’s been delivered to teams who will want him.
At 36, Kelce’s play was at its usual level, landing him in the Pro Bowl. He’s loyal to KC & will stay.
Travis Kelce would have commanded top dollar in the TE market. But he'd rather stay with the Chiefs, catch passes from Patrick Mahomes, and have a shot at another Super Bowl."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Kelce’s 76 receptions last year were his fewest since 2015. The Chiefs’ offensive step back, combined with Patrick Mahomes’ late-season injury, led to a down year for the veteran TE.
Kelce now enters his age-37 season looking to rebound. A healthy Mahomes and a renewed focus on improving the offense should help Kelce return as a back-end TE1 in PPR leagues.
Even if the Chiefs add a better RB, the offense will continue to run through Mahomes. Kelce remains his safety blanket, even at this advanced age.
Kelce currently sits at TE19 in Underdog Best Ball PPR ADP. With confirmation that he is not retiring, his ADP should climb quickly. Even then, Kelce could remain a value if drafters stay scared away by his age and the Chiefs’ poor 2025 offense.
