HC Robert Saleh: Cam Ward is ‘Progressing Really Well’

Titans HC Robert Saleh briefly updated the status of QB Cam Ward. "I am not going to put a timetable on anything, but he is progressing really well." Ward avoided surgery for a Week 18 AC joint sprain in his right shoulder.

        What They're Saying

Saleh went a step further to praise Ward’s character entering Year 2.

"Cam is there [in the team building] every day," Saleh said via Tennessee’s official site.

"Obviously, we can't talk ball with him (because of NFL rules), but I can watch him interact with the people in the building. I think it is very impressive for a young man to walk through the building and know everybody by name from the janitors to the chefs to the trainers, and he addresses them by name. He is a really, really good man. I just think his head is on the right way, he has the right work ethic. I just don't see him failing."

        2026 Fantasy Football Impact

We're not concerned about Ward's health in April.

The much more interesting storyline lies elsewhere on the roster.

Tennessee added Wan'Dale Robinson and retained Calvin Ridley this offseason. They join second-year WRs Chimere Dike and Elic Ayomanor to form an improved unit.

2025 starting C Lloyd Cushenberry signed with Buffalo in free agency, while starting RG Kevin Zeitler remains without a team. The O-line still has talented pieces like LG Peter Skoronski and RT JC Latham, but this doesn't look like a settled group that'll elevate the passing game.

So Ward isn't surrounded by a top-tier cast. Still, there's optimism for Year 2 growth after a solid end to last season.

Consider Week 16 vs. Kansas City. Ward posted 8.1 yards per attempt and completed 75% of his passes. Per Pro Football Focus, his Turnover Worthy Play Rate was 0%.

Ward projects as a fantasy QB2, but he brings enough upside to make our list of 2026 fantasy football sleepers.
