What They're Saying
GM James Gladstone: "He'll be, for all intents and purposes, a limited participant through the offseason program with eyes on return to play at full tick in training camp."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
It's good news for Hunter's knee that he'll be participating at all in offseason workouts. The bigger fantasy factor here, though, is obviously the confirmation that he'll move primarily to defense.
We've been projecting Hunter a distant fourth among Jacksonville WRs, so don't expect much to change on that front. He sits 71st among WRs in our PPR rankings. And really, the only reason Hunter's that high is the upside he'd carry if any change presents him more targets.
IDP Impact
As I mentioned back in February, Hunter's IDP value also doesn't get a boost from his increased time on that side of the ball.
The thing that differentiated him -- or would have once he got a healthy season in -- would have been garnering WR points with a CB designation.
Hunter will still get some boost from that and does look more attractive as a defensive fanasy asset than offensive.
We'll hope to get a better idea of just how often the Jags will deploy him on offense as we move through summer.
Best Ball Impact
Best ball drafters have remained a bit stubborn on Hunter, drafting him at WR61 so far by Underdog Fantasy ADP.
It's OK to take shots on him there in that format, because best ball tournaments rely on high draft volume and chasing ceiling outcomes. The ceiling for Hunter would obviously be some circumstance -- such as a teammate injury -- that makes him a full-time WR.
Cornerbacks are also kinda important to football teams, though. So don't head toward the 2026 season expecting a Parker Washington injury to flip Hunter's deployment.
And once we shift from primarily best ball drafting to straight redraft, the second-year Jag will make even less sense for your bench.
