As expected, the Falcons have picked up RB Bijan Robinson’s fifth-year option. The move keeps him under team control through the 2027 season.
Here’s more from insider ESPN Adam Schefter, who expects several RB extensions this offseason.
“Take a look at the running backs right now, Bijan Robinson is going to cash in. Jahmyr Gibbs is going to cash in. De’Von Achane is going to cash in,” Schefter said on the Adam Schefter Podcast.
“There are going to be some big running back deals that get done at some point this offseason. So while we’ve already seen one big wide receiver deal, get ready for the parade of running backs, because that’s what’s coming next.”
Robinson set career highs in rushing yards (1,478), yards per carry (5.1), and yards after contact per attempt (3.95) last season. He also set new highs in catches (79), receiving yards (820), and yards per route run (1.88).
At 24, he brings youth, a proven track record, and a clear workhorse role into Year 4. Atlanta added Brian Robinson Jr. in free agency (1 year, $2.5 million), but he projects best as a handcuff, rather than a true rotational piece. Last year, Robinson saw only 92 carries (at 4.3 YPC) and 8 catches behind Christian McCaffrey.
