The New Orleans Saints selected Arizona State WR Jordyn Tyson with the eighth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. The lone red flag on Tyson’s profile is durability. He missed roughly 34% of his college career with a multi-ligament knee injury, a broken collarbone, hamstring issues, and a Lisfranc injury. That history presents downside risk. When healthy, though, Tyson looked like a potential No. 1 WR. He peaked as a junior, posting a huge 75-1,101-10 line. Playing under WR coach (and former Steelers WR) Hines Ward, Tyson posted a strong 3.04 yards per route run while seeing a near even mix of usage inside and out. He brings NFL size at 6’2, 203 pounds, wins with sharp route running, and creates separation at all levels. Tyson’s physical tools give him a chance to be the best WR in this class.
What They're Saying
Draft Sharks Rookie Guide: “Tyson carries a wider range of outcomes than Makai Lemon or Carnell Tate. But there’s clear WR1 fantasy upside here.”
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Tyson’s blend of athleticism and football IQ allows him to get open in man coverage with ease. He also flashed zone breaking ability. That upside certainly gives Tyson upside to be a dangerous weapon opposite Chris Olave.
Second-year QB Tyler Shough showed promise last season throwing for 2,384 yards with 10 TDs and 6 INTs. With the Saints moving WR Rashid Shaheed midseason, they certainly needed more help to continue Shough’s development.
If Shough takes the next step, he could certainly support both Olave and Tyson as fantasy contributors in 2026. Olave will still be the top WR there, but Tyson could overtake him eventually.
Tyson could be an inconsistent fantasy WR3 who offers flex upside if the Saints offense takes a step forward.
Dynasty Impact
Tyson’s long term outlook looks brighter on the Saints.
Olave currently is set to become a free agent in 2027 which could mean Tyson takes over the No. 1 WR role for the team in a year.
The major question surrounding Tyson in the draft was around his durability. If he stays healthy as a rookie and plays for a full season, the Saints could feel comfortable letting Olave go.
He could go as high as the 1.02 in 1-QB drafts especially with Carnell Tate heading to the Titans (as both being the only top-10 WR selections in the 2026 NFL Draft).
We will see where the other WRs land today and tomorrow, but expect Tyson to be a top four rookie pick in any format.
Long term, Tyson has WR1 dynasty potential, but settles as high-end WR3 in our immediate dynasty rankings.
