The Colts grabbed Georgia LB CJ Allen in the second round of the NFL Draft. Allen spent nearly two-and-a-half years starting for the Bulldogs, showing out particularly well in run defense over the past two seasons. He entered the draft a year early.
What They're Saying
NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah: “Allen is a productive, intelligent playmaker. He plays bigger than his listed size. Against the run, he has good instincts/awareness. … He flies around the field with outstanding effort. … He has some tightness, which shows up in coverage, but he has enough speed to run with the TEs and RBs. … Allen should be a steady reliable force very early in his pro career.”
Shane Hallam, DS film guru, who’s not as high on the LB: “Allen just kinda takes what’s there, but he’s not creating.”
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Allen doesn’t match the other top LBs in college production, especially before his final season. Those 2025 numbers looked solid, though:
- 88 total tackles (in 13 games)
- 8 tackles for loss
- 3.5 sacks
- 4 passes defensed
He defensed four passes in each of his final two seasons but rated poorly in PFF coverage grade and other coverage stats.
Allen might make up for that in landing spot, however. He goes to a Colts team with only Akeem Davis-Gaither as a potential starter among LBs currently on the roster. ADG has yet to spend a season as a full-time player in the NFL.
Bet on Allen playing full-time right away, which gives him enticing upside -- especially if you're able to get him in LB3 territory of drafts.
Dynasty Impact
Allen figures to get more love in rookie drafts than in redraft, which could hurt his value. Top IDP targets commonly slip further than they should in rookie drafts, though, so I'd bet on Allen remaining at least a solid value there.
