Vikings WR Justin Jefferson spoke glowingly of QB Kyler Murray on Monday. “He understands the game. He understands the defenses," Jefferson said on KFAN. "He understands how to put touch on the ball, just enough to where it gets to where it’s gotta go, without making it difficult for us. He understands the game a lot more… he kinda throws the ball before you even get out that break… he’s a smart guy, and he’s a competitor.”
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Speaking of QB J.J. McCarthy, Jefferson said that he's looking forward to seeing the improvements he's made this offseason. "I'm excited for the competition," Jefferson added.
It seems painfully obvious, though, that Jefferson is already in Murray's corner. That's not a surprise after the hellish play he got from McCarthy last year, resulting in a career-low 61.6 receiving yards per game.
With even league-average QB play, Jefferson will be a strong bounce-back bet in 2026. He topped 87 yards per game in each of his first five NFL seasons.
Murray, meanwhile, boasts exciting upside if he wins the starting job. He'll be working with a strong group of weapons in Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Jauan Jennings, and T.J. Hockenson under a HC who produced big passing numbers prior to last season.
Here’s where Kevin O’Connell’s first three Vikings teams ranked in total QB fantasy points:
- 2022: 5th
- 2023: 7th
- 2024: 9th
Murray, of course, will also add value with his legs.
There's a clear path to a top-10 fantasy season, making Murray an excellent value at his QB17 ADP.
