Lions TE Sam LaPorta is expected to be "full go" for training camp, according to Tim Twentyman of the team's official website. LaPorta is working his way back from November back surgery and has been limited in practices this month.
What They're Saying
HC Dan Campbell on LaPorta's progress: “We like where he is going. He is trending the right way.”
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
LaPorta was in the midst of a strong season before that back injury knocked him out for the final eight games of the season. He sat seventh among TEs in PPR points per game through Week 10. And among 49 TEs with 30+ targets last year, he ranked:
- 5th yards per route
- 5th in yards after catch per reception
- 5th in Pro Football Focus receiving grade
Detroit's pass-catching corps remains crowded, which figures to keep LaPorta from contending for a spot at the very top of his position. But, if healthy, he's a good bet for top-10 production, with upside into the top 5.
We'll keep a close eye on that back when Lions training camp gets going in late July.
