The Dolphins placed rookie WR Chris Bell on the active/non-football injury list to open training camp. Players more commonly land on the physically unable to perform list if they're not ready to practice at the outset, but Bell gets the NFI designation because his injury predated his time with the Dolphins. He's still working back from the ACL tear that ended his final college campaign. It's not yet clear how soon he'll gain full clearance.
What They're Saying: No Timetable Revealed
HC Jeff Hafley in late May, apparently after someone asked him how "close" Bell might be: "I'm not sure how you would define close. He's running around. He's with the strength and conditioning guys. He's with our trainers, and he's doing his rehab. When he'll be ready, I'm not sure if there's a timetable for that yet, coming off that surgery."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Probably None
Bell's an interesting player who was in the midst of his best college season when the ACL tear ended things. He lasted until late in Round 3 but landed with a Miami team in total rebuild.
He should find a depth chart with limited resistance whenever he's ready, but the Dolphins also have little reason to rush their rookie into action. They're viewing him as a long-term investment rather than a key to this year's rebuilding squad.
Bell's WR95 best ball ADP puts him at the very end of drafts, which is an appropriate range in which to consider him.
Even if he gets on the field before the end of camp, you should probably let Bell hit waivers to open your fantasy season.
The longer Bell sits, the better the target-share outlook for WRs Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert, and Tutu Atwell. Expect them to open the season as Miami's top three. None looks exciting for fantasy.
