Lions RB Jahmyr Gibbs wasn't participating for the open of training camp on Wednesday. The Lions picked up Gibbs' fifth-year option in April, tying him to the team through the 2027 season. But his absence from camp is likely tied to his desire for a long-term contract.

ESPN's Adam Schefter said he expects a Gibbs deal to get done "relatively quick," clarifying that a deal could come in the next "week plus."
Lions HC Dan Campbell commented on Gibbs this morning:
"You guys know how we feel about Gibbs. ... And so, we'll take this as it comes," Campbell said. "This'll kind of continue. It'll come as it comes, I think that's the best way to say it. So, this is both sides working through something, and we'll take it as it comes, but that's what it is."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Keep Drafting Gibbs
Schefter's positive tone makes it easy to keep drafting Gibbs as usual. We simply have no indication that his absence from practice will stretch for any meaningful amount of time.
