Kyle Monangai Headshot

Bears RB Kyle Monangai suffered a right knee injury in Sunday's practice, according to insider Adam Hoge. Monangai didn't need a cart but walked off the field "very gingerly," per Hoge. Fortunately, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that initial tests on the knee revealed no structural damage and that Monangai is "believed to be fine."

Schefter adds that Monangai is still scheduled for an MRI to confirm that initial diagnosis, so we'll look for further updates. As of now, we're expecting him to be ready for the start of the regular season.

But the injury is a reminder of RB D'Andre Swift's contingent upside. When he missed Week 9 last year, Monangai played 74% of Chicago’s offensive snaps and turned 29 touches into 198 total yards. Swift would likely see a similar role if Monangai missed time this season.
