The Giants are signing Najee Harris to a one-year deal, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Nearly 11 months after tearing his achilles, Harris is joining a backfield with Cam Skattebo, who’s coming off a major injury of his own.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Rookie-Year Peak Feels Distant
Since leaving the Steelers, it’s been a tough go for Harris from a health perspective. In the offseason he joined the Chargers, he sustained an eye injury in a fireworks incident. Then, in just the third week of the season, he suffered a non-contact achilles tear that ended his season.
But honestly, since his rookie season it’s been a tough-go from a fantasy perspective. Harris posted 17.7 PPR fantasy points per game (PPG) as a rookie, which was good for a top-seven running back finish that season. That marks the only season in his career where he’s produced at least 14.0 PPG.
Other Winners & Losers: Harris Muddies Skattebo's Path
With Harris still not expected to be a meaningful producer with the Giants, Skattebo is likely the most affected by this acquisition.
Skattebo is entering his second season after fracturing his tibia in late October of his rookie year. Before that, he flashed high-end fantasy production. His 16.5 was the highest mark of any rookie running back last season.
We weren’t projecting Skattebo to immediately build on his 42.0% carry share, and the Harris signing only reinforces that outlook.
It may not be too big of a drop in Skattebo’s ranking, but for this point in the offseason, the Harris signing is about as impactful of a signing you can have in late August.
