Carnell Tate Headshot

Carnell Tate collided with Kevin Winston Jr while making a catch on Monday that caused him to leave practice early. Turron Davenport of ESPN reported that Tate has been held out of practice since. Titans head coach Robert Saleh offered a different reason for Tate’s absence, saying he was held out of practice due to stiffness rather than the collision from a couple days prior, per Jon Burton of NC5 Nashville.

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Caution Over Concern

As the prized addition to the offense this offseason, it makes sense that the Titans would be cautious with Tate. He’s the 7th wide receiver at Ohio State to post at least 16.0 PPR fantasy points per game (PPG) since 2020, joining an impressive list with Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Garrett Wilson, Chris Olave, Marvin Harrison Jr, Emeka Egbuka, and Jeremiah Smith.

He was also one of just two WRs in this class to top 3.00 yards per route run last season.

Tate still hasn't made his first preseason catch, but he has been camp's standout so far, just as you'd hope from a top pick.

The collision and reported stiffness don't appear serious, but the missed time does interrupt Tate's work building rapport with Cam Ward. That caution is easy to understand after the Titans spent the fourth overall pick on him in April.
