Broncos WR Marvin Mims left Thursday night's preseason finale with a foot injury. But it doesn't sound like anything that will cost him regular-season time. That doesn't mean, however, that Mims is ready for a meaningful role on offense.
What They're Saying: Mims Looks Healthy ... and Buried
HC Sean Payton, via ESPN: "He's going to be fine; it's a bruise. So, we were really more just cautious with him. There were a few guys that we were going to get some snaps with, certainly frontline guys for us, and he was one of those players."
Joey Freeburg of 94.3 The Fan in Denver: "The math is what makes the situation so impossible for Mims. Jaylen Waddle and Courtland Sutton are locked in at the top. Pat Bryant has emerged as a legitimate third option after a dominant training camp. And the target share doesn't stop at the receiver room."
Cecil Lammey of 94.3 The Fan: "He's competing with Troy Franklin for the seventh amount of targets. Because you have to include R.J. Harvey, you have to include Evan Engram, and then you've got three receivers in front of them, so there are five guys. So he's competing for the sixth or seventh most amount of targets."
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: No Redraft Appeal
Mims might make some sense if your league scores return yardage. He led the league in punt-return yardage last year, ranked a solid 12th in yards per kick return, and has averaged a strong 26.6 yards per kick return across his three seasons.
But the path for real offensive usage just isn't there. Combine that with Mims heading into the final year of his rookie contract, and he sure looks to me like an intriguing trade prospect for a team that's needier at wideout.
Of course, the Broncos might deem him too valuable on special teams to make such a deal without a strong return.
Barring such a move, Mims holds no fantasy appeal for 2026 redraft leagues (without return scoring). So we don't even need to bother watching that foot issue.
Dynasty Impact: Still Some Long-Term Hope
Mims will be just 25 entering the 2027 season and likely on a new team. That -- plus his physical ability, of course -- is enough to still make him an interesting dynasty stash.
Keep him rostered where it makes sense, and consider the former second-round pick a potential throw-in for larger trade packages.
