George Kittle Headshot

49ers OC Klay Kubiak confirmed that TE George Kittle is on track to play in Thursday night's opener vs. the Rams. But he also conceded that Kittle's workload remains up in the air.

What They're Saying

Kubiak: “It’s been pretty cool to see Kittle out there looking like himself, looking fresh. How that affects him on game day and what the workload is, that will be determined. But he looks good to me. He’s practicing full speed. He’s getting a ton of reps. So I feel like we’re in good shape.”

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Low Floor In The Opener

The 49ers probably have a good idea how much Kittle will play in his first action since last January's ACL tear, but don't expect them to tell us before kickoff.

Kittle was activated from the PUP list a little over two weeks ago and admitted that he's still working back into game shape.

"Really at this point it's just getting in shape again because I haven't really played a lot of football since January," he said.

We'd be very surprised if Kittle played anywhere close to his usual snap allotment on Thursday night. He could still do some damage on limited playing time, but the fantasy floor is low.

We'd try not to use Kittle in Week 1 fantasy lineups.
