Even while sharing a backfield with Jahmyr Gibbs on the Lions last season, Montgomery never finished a game with as little as 10 rushing yards. His 10 rushing yards on Sunday were his fewest since Week 15 of 2024.
Montgomery's poor efficiency has been a noticeable trend, even amid an overall poor offensive performance for the Texans as a whole, rushing for just 37 yards.
Despite ranking as the RB7 last week, Montgomery didn’t do it with rushing efficiency. The veteran RB averaged just 3 yards per carry last week and an even lower 1.7 yards per carry this week.
Montgomery will face a Colts defense next week that gave up the ninth fewest rushing yards last season, but his 62.5% carry share from Week 1 keeps him plenty relevant, even if rushing efficiency is even harder to come by in the divisional matchup.
