Patriots RB TreVeyon Henderson made his season debut against the Steelers in Week 2 after missing Week 1 against the Seahawks due to an ankle injury. The team’s Wednesday game last week gave him a few extra days to recover. Henderson proved effective, rushing 16 times for 76 yards and a TD. That TD came on an explosive 39-yard run that showcased Henderson’s deep speed.
What They're Saying
Mike Vrabel: “Well, I mean, again, that's what you need. We talked about creating [explosive] plays offensively – you need great execution and extra effort. And I think we had good execution, and then Pop [Douglas] provided the extra effort to spring the block there that got TreVeyon into the end zone.”
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
The biggest takeaway beyond Henderson’s fantasy performance was his usage compared to fellow RB Rhamondre Stevenson.
Henderson’s 16 touches more than doubled Stevenson’s 7 touches on offense. The split may have been due to Stevenson’s fumbling the football before Henderson broke his long TD run.
Stevenson did have 2 targets while Henderson did not receive a target during the game. But receiving usage could come if the team trusts Henderson to be on the field (and pass block) even more.
This is good news for Henderson as an RB2 going forward. The Patriots have the Jaguars, who have not allowed a 100-yard back in either of their two games this season. They will follow that game up with games against the Bills and Raiders.
