With just 7.9 fantasy points in an upset loss to the Raiders, Justin Herbert finished outside of the top 20 QBs for a second consecutive week. The Chargers QB completed 15 of his 27 pass attempts for just 192 yards while throwing a TD and two INTs.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Passing Volume Keeps Shrinking
Herbert had faced the Raiders 11 times before Sunday, but this was his lowest-scoring output against them.
The seventh-year QB is coming off a career-worst 2.5% INT rate last season and his 5.6% INT rate through the first two games of this season continues an alarming trend.
But his struggles haven’t just come in the form of a high turnover rate. Herbert is coming off three straight seasons of averaging fewer than 250 passing yards per game, which is a mark he eclipsed in each of his first three seasons.
A major reason is the drop in passing volume. Since Jim Harbaugh agreed to be the Chargers' head coach, Herbert has averaged just 30.8 pass attempts per game, down from 39.1 across his four-year career to that point.
Herbert gets the Bills in Week 3, and they've given up at least 250 passing yards in each of their first two games this year.
