The Eagles are signing TE Zach Ertz to the practice squad. The move comes in the wake of news that TE Dallas Goedert will miss "a few weeks" with an MCL sprain. Ertz is coming off an ACL tear that ended his season Dec. 7.

Philly's obviously making this move to have Ertz available to fill in while Goedert's out. That doesn't necessarily mean he's ready to go, though. We'll see about his timeline.
Once the Eagles deem Ertz ready to play, his knee figures to be less of a concern than it might be for other guys. The veteran TE has never been an explosive player and averaged less than 40 yards per game in each of his past three seasons.
He just needs to be healthy enough to get a few yards away from the line of scrimmage and turn around.
At the same time, Ertz will present limited upside in a Philly offense that's been regularly playing its top three WRs over the first two weeks.
Consider Ertz a potential cheap stash for deep PPR leagues. But don't get excited about the name and the reunion.
