Titans WR Carnell Tate racked up 145 yards on 9 catches in Sunday's loss to the Ravens. He more than doubled his nearest teammate in targets and catches and dominated the yardage. He drew 42.8% of Tennessee's targeted passes, snagged 45.0% of the receptions, and gobbled up 65.3% of the receiving yards. Unfortunately, Tate scored 0% of the TDs, because the lone scoring toss went to WR Wan'Dale Robinson. RB Tony Pollard scored the Titans' only other TD.
2026 Fantasy Football Impact
Entering Sunday's game, Tate was already joining rare company in terms of rookie-year opportunity.
According to Marvin Elequin, Tate's weighted opportunity rating ranked fourth among rookie wideouts since 2013, trailing only:
- Malik Nabers
- Odell Beckham Jr.
- Chris Olave
- Tetairoa McMillan
That'll only improve after Sunday's action. But it's a bit of a good news, bad news situation for Tate's outlook. And McMillan's a good forebearer.
It's obviously good news that Tennessee is plying Tate like the top-5 pick it made him. But part of his passing-game domination is the fact that there's just not much production to spread around.
Sunday marked the first time this year that Cam Ward reached 200 passing yards in a game this season, and he only got to 222.
The usage keeps Tate in the WR3 conversation going forward. The situation keeps him from climbing higher.
One final bit of good news: Tennessee sports the second-best remaining schedule for WR scoring by our adjusted fantasy points allowed. That includes positive matchups each of the next four weeks.
Dynasty Impact
Watch for opportunities to buy Tate amid what figures to be a frustrating rookie season for anyone who rosters him.
The usage bodes particularly well for his long-term outlook. And the longer Ward falters, the more likely the Titans will be to replace him -- perhaps as soon as the 2027 draft.
