Tank Bigsby Headshot

Tank Bigsby took over the Philadelphia backfield Sunday after Saquon Barkley left with a hamstring injury after his second carry. Bigsby carried 14 times for 55 yards (3.9 per rush) in the loss to the Rams. Will Shipley followed with 6 carries for 23 yards (3.8). Each guy finished with no catches on a single target. They played a matching 29 snaps, but Shipley got a slight boost from Bigsby leaving late in the fourth quarter with an apparent groin injury. Shipley took the remaining six plays.

Two Injuries Need Tracking

Barkley seems likely to miss at least some further time with his injury. Despite leaving the field and heading to the locker room under his own power, the lead back was in clear pain and limping significantly.

Ashlyn Sullivan of NBC Sports Philly did report, at least, that Barkley "was able to walk perfectly normal" as he left the stadium with his family at the end of the game.

(Barkley not sticking around to talk to media seems noteworthy.)

We'll have to see about Bigsby as well. There doesn't seem to be much out there about his situation yet.

A Week 5 visit to Jacksonville will challenge whomever's running. The Jaguars entered Week 4 as the No. 2 defense in total DVOA and No. 5 against the run. They probably improved on that by holding the Bengals to just 23 rushing yards Sunday.

2026 Fantasy Football Impact: Rough Situation Meets Tough Matchup

Philly's rushing issues go beyond that difficult Week 5 matchup, though.

According to Sumer Sports, the Eagles rank:

  • 29th in offensive success rate (38.6%)
  • 20th in yards per designed run (3.79)
  • 31st in expected points added per play in play-action situations

That last one's not really a rushing stat. But if the pass offense can't make defenses pay for looking run on such plays, then it certainly won't help the run game.

And that's the key issue. The whole offense is struggling right now. The team entered Sunday ranked just 24th in adjusted line yards, with LG Landon Dickerson still on IR and RT Lane Johnson missing Week 4 for a personal matter.

Bad offense and lackluster O-line makes for a poor RB environment. Combine that with the tough Week 5 matchup, and you shouldn't get excited about any Eagles RB for the coming week.

That said, Bigsby -- if healthy -- and Shipley will both be worth some attention on waivers ahead of Week 5. Check the Free Agent Finder before you make your waiver bids this week to see if either makes sense for your team.
