Tank Bigsby Headshot

Eagles RB Tank Bigsby needs core-muscle surgery for an injury suffered in the Week 4 loss to the Rams, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Bigsby will be placed on IR with the hope that he's back in "six weeks or shorter," per Rapoport. Philadelphia also lost RB Saquon Barkley to a hamstring injury on Sunday. We're still waiting to find out how long he'll be sidelined.

Bigsby was set to be the top target on waiver wires this week. That honor now goes to RB Will Shipley.

Shipley was out-carried 27 to 13 by Bigsby in the 2 games Barkley missed most of this season (Weeks 2 and 4). He's a good bet to lead Philadelphia's backfield for however long Barkley is out, although it's unclear exactly how much work the Eagles will be willing to give him. Shipley has just-decent size at 5'11, 209 pounds and has yet to top 10 carries or 14 total touches across 35 NFL games.

Consider Shipley a RB3 or flex option for a difficult Week 5 matchup against the Jaguars (assuming Barkley is out).

The Eagles have RBs Dameon Pierce and Jaydon Blue on the practice squad. We'll see if they get elevated for Week 5, or if the team makes an addition to the backfield.
