Colts K Adam Vinatieri believes that he'll be ready to return for this Sunday's game against the Jets.  He's missed the past 9 games after undergoing knee surgery.  K Matt Stover has filled in nicely, going 9 for 11 on FGs, so we see no reason for the Colts to rush Vinatieri back. Avoid this situation in fantasy.

Colts K Adam Vinatieri underwent surgery on his right knee to repair cartilage damage.  He's out at least 6 weeks and could miss as many as 8.  We wouldn't be surprised if he was placed on the IR soon.  The team has signed veteran Matt Stover to handle kicking duties.

Colts.com is reporting that Adam Vinatieri had surgery to relieve hip discomfort.   We never recommend taking a kicker before the last round of your draft anyways, but Vinatieri is 36 years old and coming off surgery. Consider a safer kicking option.

Colts K Adam Vinatieri (knee) missed practice on Friday but remains probable. He's been nicked all year and is only the 11th-ranked kicker. That 9th or 10th round pick that some people used on Vinatieri could have been Marion Barber or Braylon Edwards...

Colts K Adam Vinatieri (groin) got healthy in the extra bye week and will kick tomorrow.

Colts HC Tony Dungy said on 1260 WNDE that Adam Vinatieri (groin) kicked well today and should start barring a sudden setback. In fantasy we'd be afraid to play him in head-to-head leagues, where he could cost you a win. There are plenty of healthy kickers available. In total-points leagues Vinatieri is a little less risky.

ESPN reports Colts K Adam Vinatieri (groin) will be held out because of the slick, wet field conditions. Martin Gramatica will start. He makes a solid bye-week play so we slipped him in the Updated Weekly List as the #11 kicker.

The Colts cut K Martin Gramatica. That means Adam Vinatieri is ready to kick again. We'll bump him up the rankings - but not too far. This guy seems snake-bitten after leaving New England.

Colts K Adam Vinatieri (groin) is not expected to play per Sirius NFL Radio. We're wondering if Vinatieri has a tear and might be shut down. Martin Gramatica would be a major free-agent steal.

ESPN Radio reports Colts K Adam Vinatieri (groin) is unlikely to play Sunday. Martin Gramatica will be signed to kick vs. Jacksonville.

The AP reports K Adam Vinatieri (groin) has been ruled out for Week 3. Martin Gramatica will kick for the Colts.

Colts K Adam Vinatieri left the Texans game with a groin injury. He was already dealing with a sprained ligament/chipped bone in his non-kicking foot. Vinatieri kicked fine, drilling FGs from 39, 43, & 38 yards, then left in the 4th quarter. P Hunter Smith came in and had a PAT blocked.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Colts brought in K Martin Gramatica for a look yesterday. That's a sign that Adam Vinatieri's groin injury is significant. Vinatieri is listed as questionable but we're thinking doubtful.

Colts K Adam Vinatieri is wearing a brace on his non-kicking foot (broken bone, sprained ligament) but says he'll play this Sunday. "In 10 years in the NFL, I've not missed a game and I'm not planning to miss one any time soon. Obviously, I'm going to kick as many as I can this week and not overdo it." He's tough enough to kick through this injury -- but that doesn't mean he'll kick well. Bench Vinatieri and make him earn your starting job this year.

Updating last week's report, Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri has been held out of practice since Aug. 15 with what could be a serious ankle injury. NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports "One player who knows Vinatieri says the kicker has a broken bone in his ankle." If true, that means he's had two weeks to heal, but might still miss a minimum of 2 games. When asked about the injury Vinatieri didn't confirm or deny it, which means he's definitely hurt. His replacement would be Shane Andrus. His career highlight is a 52-yard kick that sent Murray State to the Ohio Valley Conference playoffs. They could re-sign Martin Gramatica (just cut by New England) too. Vinatieri-owners should prepare their rosters accordingly.

Updating our morning report, Colts K Adam Vinatieri has a broken bone in his left foot. "That's what he told us about a week and a half ago," said Vinatieri's mother, who just blabbed to the Indy Star over the phone. "They sent him to a specialist. They found a small broken bone in his foot." His status for the opener is iffy but you better not use him regardless.

We're hearing Colts K Adam Vinatieri's ankle injury could keep him out of the opener.

Colts HC Tony Dungy said kicker Adam Vinatieri hurt his ankle while running in drills Monday. "He did it in conditioning, and he's day-to-day," Dungy said.
