The Chiefs have ruled out CB Charvarius Ward (thumb) for Sunday's game against the Chargers. They'll also be without DE Alex Okafor (hamstring).

Chiefs CB Charvarius Ward suffered a hand fracture in the 2nd half of Thursday night's win over the Texans. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that they're still figuring out how much time Ward might miss. The Chiefs were already without CB Bashaud Breeland for the 1st 4 games because of suspension. Rookie L'Jarius Sneed led K.C. corners in playing time in the opener, seeing 93% of the defensive snaps. Elsewhere, DE Alex Okafor left early with what HC Andy Reid called a "mild" hamstring strain.

The Chiefs have reached a 3-year deal with EDGE Alex Okafor, according to multiple reports. NFL Network reports it's worth "up to" $24 million. Okafor spent the past 2 years at DE for the Saints, totaling 8.5 sacks. There might be some upside beyond that, but he ranked no higher than 90th in Pro Football Focus' pass-rushing productivity among EDGE players either season. Okafor's a solid player but not likely to approximate the production of departed OLB Dee Ford. His shift to OLB in the Chiefs' 3-4 front further knocks his IDP value.

Saints DE Alex Okafor tore his right Achilles' tendon in Sunday's win over Washington. That takes as well-performing edge player off New Orleans' surprising defense. HC Sean Payton refused to go into specifics on a replacement plan, but rookie DE Trey Hendrickson looks like the primary beneficiary. He has put in his 4 largest snap shares over the past 4 weeks and presents some sleeper potential for deep IDP leagues.

The Cardinals listed FS Tyrann Mathieu and SS Tony Jefferson as starters in their initial depth chart Monday. Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com says that SS Deone Bucannon and FS Rashad Johnson "have been running with the first unit" in practice. "In the end, all four get a lot of snaps," Urban adds. Given that situation, it might not matter who actually starts. At the same time, a rotation will limit fantasy-scoring opportunities for the IDP prospects. That has suppressed all Arizona DB projections in our 2015 IDP rankings. Elsewhere on D, the Cards list OLB Lorenzo Alexander, ILB Sean Weatherspoon, ILB Kevin Minter and OLB Alex Okafor as starters. We're not excited about any as IDP factors. Weatherspoon would carry the most upside, but he needs to show that he still has his old quicks even after last June's Achilles' tendon tear.
