Bucs LB Lavonte David is inactive for today's game at Chicago because of a knee injury that limited his practice time the past 2 weeks. That should mean more playing time for OLB Danny Lansanah, who has produced big plays in coverage when given the opportunity this year. The Bucs D will at least have top corner Alterraun Verner, who had been questionable with hamstring trouble.

Buccaneers CB Alterraun Verner is inactive for the 2nd straight game because of a hamstring injury. His absence only further enhances an already wonderful fantasy football matchup for Washington QB Robert Griffin and his receivers. The Bucs will have starting right DE Michael Johnson at least. He's active despite a questionable tag for a hand injury that kept him out in Week 10.

The Tampa Bay defense could be without CB Alterraun Verner and DE Michael Johnson again in Week 11. Verner is questionable after putting in 3 limited practices this week with the hamstring injury that cost him Week 10. We'll keep an eye on his game status, but Verner will make for a risky IDP play even if he starts. Johnson also missed Week 10 but seems likely to return Sunday after putting in full practices Thursday and Friday this week. The Tampa team D isn't worth a fantasy look no matter who's in or out. Missing Verner would only further enhance an already positive passing matchup for Washington QB Robert Griffin and his WRs.

The Buccaneers have deactivated CB Alterraun Verner (knee) and DE Michael Johnson (hand) for today's game against Atlanta. Verner entered the weekend doubtful, but Johnson had been playing through his injury. He has struggled all year, though, especially from a fantasy standpoint. Let's hope you weren't planning on using him in the 1st place. LB Lavonte David (knee) is active, however, after being listed as questionable.

Bucs CB Alterraun Verner missed his 3rd straight day of practice Friday because of a hamstring injury. The team has designated him doubtful for Sunday's matchup with the Falcons. That's unfortunate for IDP owners, as Verner would have carried plenty of fantasy upside in the game. HC Lovie Smith mentioned Crezdon Butler and Brandon Dixon as potential replacements Friday, which means you can't count on either for fantasy purposes. Verner's absence can only help Falcons QB Matt Ryan's fantasy outlook in an already positive matchup.

The Buccaneers have signed former Titans CB Alterraun Verner for 4 years at $26.5 million, including $14 million guaranteed.  Verner went from contested starter last summer to Pro Bowl corner in Tennessee, snatching 5 INTs and leading the league with 27 total passes defensed.  A low tackle tally made for inconsistent fantasy production last year, but Verner could land in starter range come time for our 2014 IDP rankings.

Titans CB Alterraun Verner (groin) is questionable for Sunday's meeting with Arizona.  He finished the week as a full practice participant, though, and seems to be on track to play.

The Titans have named CB Alterraun Verner the starter on the right side for the 2nd straight season.  Tennessee tried to get youngster Tommie Campbell into that role this summer, but he tanked.  And no other corner on the roster managed to outperform Verner.  So he'll again play opposite Jason McCourty and carry IDP sleeper potential into the season -- especially considering his tenuous status probably kept him undrafted in nearly all fantasy football leagues.

Titans CB Jason McCourty has been cleared to face the Colts in Week 15. He missed Sunday's loss to the Saints after suffering a concussion the week before. His return will decrease the snaps for Alterraun Verner and push Chris Hawkins back into a minor role.

Titans CB Jason McCourty (concussion) is inactive for today's game against the Saints.  He hasn't passed his baseline tests.  CB Alterraun Verner will start in McCourty's place.

Titans LCB Jason McCourty is officially questionable for Sunday's game against New Orleans. HC Mike Munchak said he'll be a game-time decision and must be cleared by an independent doctor. McCourty has said he was symptom-free all week and never experienced dizziness. We'd still bet against him playing, but it's possible he'll be active. Alterraun Verner and Chris Hawkins would see more snaps in McCourty's absence.

Titans CB Jason McCourty left the 1st quarter of Sunday's win over Buffalo with a concussion. Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reports that HC Mike Munchak said after the game, "We're not sure what degree (concussion), but he got his bell rung pretty good and we'll have to see how he is." That sure makes us think McCourty will miss at least a week. If he does, Alterraun Verner should be in for a start. Verner was a top-15 fantasy DB as a rookie last year, despite starting just 12 games. If McCourty is out, Verner will become an instant fantasy sleeper in a matchup with the Saints.

Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean says "the bet here is Jason McCourty over Alterraun Verner" to start at CB opposite Cortland Finnegan. McCourty has been atop the depth chart since its first release. Wyatt says his "fast and physical" combo fits what DC Jerry Gray is seeking. (As opposed to slow, tentative cover men, we assume.) In most cases, a team's 3rd CB spends so much time on the field that the starter designation doesn't matter a ton. McCourty opened last year as a starter before getting hurt and passed by Verner. The rookie turned in a top-15 fantasy DB season, while McCourty tallied 47 total tackles in 12 games. Verner's stock has to fall if Wyatt's prediction comes true. McCourty isn't likely to match Verner's 2010 numbers.

Titans #2 CB Jason McCourty is expected to miss 3-4 weeks after undergoing forearm surgery.  He'll be replaced in the starting lineup by Alterraun Verner.  Tennessee was alraedy struggled for depth in the secondary, and this certainly won't help.  #2 and #3 WRs will continue to be nice plays against this defense.
