Colts QB Andrew Luck played 2 series in Thursday night's preseason opener against the Seahawks -- his first live action in over 19 months. It went about as well as anyone could have hoped. Luck completed 6 of 9 passes for 64 yards. While he didn't uncork anything deep downfield, what we saw looked like the same guy we knew before all the shoulder issues. Luck also took a couple hits -- 1 on a scramble and 1 on a sack. He had “good rhythm (and) was in complete control," HC Frank Reich said. "I thought he did a nice job.’’ Luck has checked off every box in his return since camp opened. We just bumped him up the QB Rankings.

Colts HC Frank Reich said Wednesday that he expects QB Andrew Luck to play in the team's preseason opener on August 9. Reich added that Luck is "full go" in practice. The team is clearly happy with where that throwing shoulder is at and is evidently ready to let Luck take some hits in live action. This might just be the most encouraging report we've gotten on him over the past year. Luck is starting to look like an enticing pick at his 10th- or 11th-round price tag.

Colts GM Chris Ballard said Friday that QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is "good to go" for the start of training camp. He'll take planned days off but will take starter's reps when camp opens next Thursday. “He’s throwing the ball pretty well,” Ballard said. We'll be looking for reports on Luck's arm strength and accuracy in practice and will hopefully get to see him in preseason action. He's certainly on track for Week 1 right now but remains a risk/reward fantasy pick.

Colts QB Andrew Luck threw in practice last week for the 1st time in about 8 months. Insider Albert Breer reports that Luck is now "deeper into his rehab without a major hiccup" than he's been since undergoing surgery on his throwing shoulder in January 2017. He's traveled this offseason to Los Angeles to work on his mechanics and to Amsterdam to learn about alternative training techniques, according to Breer. Luck still hasn't thrown in 11-on-11s, and his reps will be closely monitored when training camp opens. But he certainly seems to be trending in the right direction. Luck's ADP is sitting in the 11th round as the 17th QB off the board. He's a fine shot to take at that price tag.

Colts QB Andrew Luck threw at Tuesday's minicamp session. (Here's video proof.) As far as we know, it's the 1st time Luck has thrown a football in about 8 months. The Colts have played it extremely safe with his rehab this time around, but owner Jim Irsay said that Luck "won't have any limitations" when training camp opens next month. We'll continue to keep a close eye on him throughout the summer, but Luck has turned into a risk worth taking at his current 11th- or 12th-round price tag. He finished 4th among QBs in fantasy points when we last saw him in 2016.

Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) has yet to resume throwing a football and isn't expected to do so until training camp, according to insider Kevin Bowen. As far as we know, the last time Luck did any extensive throwing was the middle of last October. He hasn't played in a game since January 1, 2017. Throwing at the start of camp would give him about 6 weeks to get ready for Week 1. As Bowen notes, "the window for any hiccup in his rehab is all but closed at this point of the offseason." Luck's ADP has dropped into the 11th round of recent best-ball drafts.

Colts QB Andrew Luck told reporters Monday that he still has yet to get back to throwing a real football following last year's shoulder surgery. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Luck says he's not freaking out because he's "very, very optimistic" and making progress. It is only April, but today's quotes sound a lot like what we were hearing last spring when we fantasy owners tried to downplay our own concerns. Luck will be among the most closely watched players in the league until he proves he's all the way back.

Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) said Tuesday that he's been doing "a little bit of throwing" lately. He's continuing to strengthen that troublesome throwing shoulder and is happy with the progress he's making. Luck also revealed that another surgery is not in the plans. "That is not an option for me right now," he said. "That ship has sailed as far as I'm concerned. Which is a relief, I'm not going to lie." HC Frank Reich, meanwhile, said he's "hopeful" Luck will be able to throw in OTAs in April. That right shoulder will continue to be 1 of the biggest storylines of the offseason.

The Colts on Sunday night announced a deal to make Eagles OC Frank Reich their new HC. That, of course, comes less than a week after Josh McDaniels backed out of his agreement to stick with the Patriots. Reich spent 2 years coordinating the Philly offense under Doug Pederson after coordinating the Chargers offense in 2014-15. Reich had a top-9 finish in yards at each stop but just 1 offense (2017) that ranked better than 16th in scoring. He also opened his coaching career with 6 years as an intern and then offensive assistant for the Colts. Reich served on an Eagles staff that put forth a top-level offense and helped 2nd-year QB Carson Wentz develop impressively. We'll see who else joins him on the new Colts' staff. The Eagles, meanwhile, head toward 2018 needing a new OC and QBs coach. (John DiFilippo left to become Minnesota's OC.) That'll present a challenge, though Pederson plus the return of Wentz and plenty of skill-position talent should have us believing in plenty of Eagles as 2018 fantasy factors. The biggest -- and yet unanswered -- question for Indy will be Andrew Luck's recovery from shoulder surgery.

Colts QB Andrew Luck is "very close" to throwing again, a source tells NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Luck has traveled to Los Angeles to train with mechanics gurus Tom House and Adam Dedeaux, who have worked with Tom Brady and other NFL QBs. How that troublesome shoulder responds to increased activity will go a long way toward determining Luck's 2018 status, although Rapoport notes that he isn't expected to need another surgery. We'll continue to keep a close eye on Luck's progress.

The Colts are set to name Josh McDaniels their next HC, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The hire will become official shortly after the Super Bowl. McDaniels struggled in his first go-around as HC, compiling an 11-17 record in less than 2 seasons in Denver. But he's still widely regarded as 1 of the top offensive minds in the game. His Broncos squads ranked 15th and 13th, respectively, in total offense with Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow under center. And McDaniels has helped guide the Patriots to top-11 finishes in total offense in 6 straight seasons. He now inherits a Colts offense with promise -- but also plenty of question marks. Chief among them is the health of QB Andrew Luck.

The Colts have fired HC Chuck Pagano. He took his squad to the playoffs in each of his first 3 seasons but hasn't topped 8 wins in any of the last 3. New GM Chris Ballard will make his 1st HC hire with Indy. Patriots OC Josh McDaniels has been bandied about as a candidate for the gig.

Colts QB Andrew Luck might need another surgery, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Luck is scheduled to resume throwing soon. How he feels then will determine whether he goes under the knife again in January. The procedure would address biceps tendinitis, which is what caused pain and discomfort when he resumed throwing earlier this year. Recovery from that surgery tends to take 3-6 months. Luck is reportedly "optimistic" that he'll avoid surgery after extensive treatment and rehab in Europe. We'll continue to keep a close eye on the situation.

Colts QB Andrew Luck has "additional issues" with his throwing shoulder, beyond the torn labrum that he had surgery on in January, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The belief is that the problems arose from Luck altering his throwing motion to compensate for the original injury. He's sought multiple opinions, but doctors still don't know exactly what's ailing him. No one has recommended another surgery, per Rapoport, but "it remains a possibility." Luck will spend the next few months rehabbing before any other decisions are made. The Colts believe he'll be ready for the start of the 2018 season -- but we can't consider that a lock based on how this has played out and everything we know now. Luck's dynasty stock has certainly taken a hit.

The Colts have placed QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) on IR, officially ending his 2017 season. The news doesn't come as a surprise to anyone who's been paying attention. Luck returned to practice in early October but was shut down a couple of weeks later after experiencing soreness in that throwing shoulder. He hasn't thrown since. At this point, we can't even be sure that he'll be ready for the start of the offseason program. Luck's health will again be 1 of the biggest NFL storylines this winter and spring. QB Jacoby Brissett will finish out this season as Indy's starter.

Colts QB Andrew Luck is "not close to returning to practice," according to the Indy Star's Stephen Holder. That's just practice. Luck is at least a couple of weeks beyond that from being ready to play in a game. He's still experiencing soreness in that throwing shoulder, per Holder, and is set to visit multiple specialists this week. At this point, we'd be surprised if Luck played this season. He's not worth hanging on to in redraft leagues.

Colts HC Chuck Pagano confirmed on Monday that QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) won't practice this week or play against the Bengals on Sunday. Luck figures to need another couple of weeks of practice once he gets back out there before he's ready for game action. CBS' Jason La Canfora reported over the weekend that Luck is unlikely to play before December. There's certainly a chance he doesn't play at all this season.

Colts QB Andrew Luck's recent setback in his recovery from shoulder surgery likely means he's out until at least December, according to CBS' Jason La Canfora. The Colts have a Week 11 bye, then play on Sunday, Nov. 26, in Week 12. We'll see about his progress as that time draws closer. Fill-in Jacoby Brissett will face a tough slate of opponents in the meantime: Jacksonville, Cincinnati, Houston and Pittsburgh.

Colts GM Chris Ballard said Wednesday that QB Andrew Luck is experiencing soreness in his throwing shoulder. He received a cortisone shot and won't practice this week. This certainly qualifies as a setback. We'd now be surprised to see Luck before the Colts return from their Week 11 bye -- and it's possible he doesn't play at all this season.

Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) told ESPN that he won't play against the Jaguars next weekend. That's been the belief for a while now, with Week 8 looking like his earliest possible return. That's a road game against the Bengals -- a tough spot for a guy coming off a serious throwing-shoulder injury. Week 9 brings a better matchup vs. Houston's 24th-ranked QB defense. Of course, there's still no guarantee that Luck is even ready by then.
