The Colts and QB Andrew Luck have agreed to a new 6-year, $140 million contract with $87 million guaranteed. Both the guaranteed cash and the $23.3 million annual salary are the highest in league history. That's what it takes nowadays to lock up a franchise signal-caller. The Colts clearly have no doubt that Luck is exactly that, despite last year's injuries. He turns just 27 in September and is now locked in with Indianapolis through his age-32 season. Luck sits #1 among QBs in our Dynasty Rankings.
Colts QB Andrew Luck is back to 100% and has "looked better than expected" in workouts this week, per the Indy Star's Stephen Holder. Luck missed 9 games last year with shoulder, rib and kidney injuries. But none of those should impact him in 2016. A healthy Luck is a prime bounce-back candidate this season.
Colts HC Chuck Pagano wants QB Andrew Luck to do a better job protecting himself going forward. “Get him healthy, keep him healthy, keep him protected, keep him upright,” Pagano said. “He plays the position like a linebacker, with a linebacker’s mentality. He can’t do that all the time. We love how he can extend plays, but he’s got to be smart and know it’s OK to slide. You don’t have to take some of those hits.” Luck boasts plus pocket mobility and rushing ability, but he missed 9 games last year as he dealt with shoulder, rib, ankle, kidney and abdomen injuries. More attention to protecting his body might mean a slight decline in Luck's rushing numbers, but it'd also give him a better chance to play all 16 games.
Colts QB Andrew Luck (abdomen) has been ruled out for Sunday's season-finale against the Titans. Indy has virtually no shot of making the playoffs and no reason to throw Luck back out their at less than 100%. QBs Josh Freeman and Ryan Lindley reportedly split 1st-team reps at practice on Wednesday. You're obviously avoiding Colts QBs in Week 17 fantasy lineups. The Titans defense makes for an intriguing play.
Colts HC Chuck Pagano announced Monday that QB Andrew Luck (kidney, abdomen) will play not against the Dolphins this week. We're surprised that the decision was made so early in the week, which makes it seem like Luck might not even be ready for Week 17. Of course, the Colts could be eliminated from playoff contention by then anyways. QB Matt Hasselbeck, meanwhile, is "beat up from the feet up," Pagano said. If he can't play against Miami on Sunday, Indy will turn to QB Charlie Whitehurst.
Colts QB Andrew Luck (kidney, abdomen) won't play against the Texans this weekend, HC Chuck Pagano told reporters on Wednesday. Luck is back on the practice field but won't return to game action until he's back to 100%. Consider him questionable for Week 16. Pagano also said Wednesday that he expects QB Matt Hasselbeck (ribs) to be available this Sunday.
Colts QB Andrew Luck (kidney, abdomen) was spotted participating in individual drills in the portion of Wednesday's practice open to the media. He'll very likely be listed as a limited participant, but the work this early in the week gives Luck a chance to play against the Texans on Sunday. We'll continue to keep a close eye on his status. QB Matt Hasselbeck (ribs) was not participating in the early part of practice.
"Though [Jim] Irsay suggested Andrew Luck could return from lacerated kidney this week, uncertainty exists about when/if he'll return this year." ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted that Tuesday afternoon about the Colts QB. Kevin Bowen of the team website reports that Luck hopes to return to practice this week but doesn't yet feel 100%. We'll see if Luck can get back on the field this week (or next, or at all), but you certainly can't count on getting him back into your fantasy football lineup at any point. Make sure you have coverage for the final few weeks if you've been holding out hope.
Colts owner Jim Irsay expects QB Andrew Luck (kidney, abdomen) to return for Week 15 against the Texans, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That game could decide the division, so it makes sense as a target date for Luck's return. Irsay did add, though, that it's possible Luck is out until Week 16. We'll continue to track his progress. QB Matt Hasselbeck will make at least 2 more starts against the Steelers tonight and the Jaguars next week.
Colts QB Andrew Luck (kidney, abdomen) is expected to be sidelined until mid-December, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Indy is in Jacksonville on December 13 and hosts Houston on December 20. It sounds like Luck will return for 1 of those games. They're both positive matchups in the fantasy football playoffs, so Luck could still be an asset this season. Whether he's worth stashing now depends on your QB situation and the depth of your bench.
ESPN's Ed Werder reports that the Colts "realistically" expect QB Andrew Luck (kidney, abdomen) to miss "at least a month." The team officially released a 2-6 week timetable, but the shorter end of that always seemed optimistic for a serious injury. If Luck is sidelined 4 weeks, he'd miss 3 games and return in Week 14. He gets the Jaguars, Texans and Dolphins in Weeks 14 to 16, so he could still help fantasy squads. But Luck is droppable in shallower leagues.
The Colts announced on Tuesday that QB Andrew Luck will be sidelined 2-6 weeks with abdominal injuries suffered in last week's win over the Broncos. Luck was hurt on a scramble early in the 4th quarter, according to HC Chuck Pagano. He finished out the game but was still in pain on Monday afternoon. He underwent tests that revealed a kidney laceration and a partial tear of an abdominal muscle. “It’s way too early to guess how long Andrew will be out,” Pagano said. “We’re going to keep listening to the doctors and evaluating his progress on a week by week basis." The Colts have a Week 10 bye, so it's possible that Luck misses just 1 game. The longer end of the timeline would knock him out until Week 16. Fantasy owners should hang on to him if possible while we wait for a more concrete timetable for return. QB Matt Hasselbeck will start for however long Luck is out. The 40-year-old was solid in 2 starts earlier this year, completing 63.2% of his passes with 3 TDs and 0 INTs. But Hasselbeck is still a downgrade for Indy's offense.
Colts QB Andrew Luck (ankle) is active for today’s game against the Broncos. The ankle isn’t a concern, but a struggling Luck isn’t a QB1 vs. the league’s top-ranked QB defense.
Colts QB Andrew Luck (ankle) is probable for this weekend’s game against the Broncos. He was limited on Wednesday but put in full workouts on Thursday and Friday. The ankle isn’t a concern, but the matchup is. Luck isn’t a recommended QB1 vs. the league’s top pass defense.
Colts QB Andrew Luck was limited in Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury suffered in Monday night's loss. It doesn't sound like a major issue, and we've heard nothing to suggest he's in any danger of missing this weekend's game against the Broncos. But it's just another concern for a banged-up, struggling QB. Luck is not a recommended fantasy starter against the Broncos on Sunday.
The Colts have fired OC Pep Hamilton. He's the guy who led Indy to a top-6 ranking in total yards and points last year, so it's tough to believe he's been the problem this season. Hamilton will be replaced by OC Rob Chudzinski, who failed as Browns HC in 2013 but fared well as Panthers OC in 2011 and 2012. Chudzinski has been on the Colts staff for the past 2 years, so don't expect a major change in play-calling going forward. QB Andrew Luck will need to play better for this offense to get going.
Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports that Colts QB Andrew Luck has been playing with "multiple fractured ribs," in addition to his shoulder injury. No mention was ever made of a rib issue, either to the media or on the injury report. Rib injuries tend to be an issue of pain tolerance, but it could certainly be another reason for Luck's struggles. We'll see if he can get on track on Monday night against the Panthers. His bye is coming up in Week 10.
Colts QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) is officially active for tonight’s game against the Patriots. He figures to be busy trying to keep pace with Tom Brady and Co. Get Luck in fantasy lineups if you waited on him.
