Steelers HC Mike Tomlin confirmed on Tuesday that WR Antonio Brown (calf) is out for this weekend's game against the Texans. Tomlin said Brown is dealing with a "significant contusion." He wouldn't speculate about Brown's status beyond Week 16, but previous reports have him unlikely to play in the regular-season finale. The Steelers should be able to knock off Houston and Cleveland without their #1 WR. Brown's absence leaves JuJu Smith-Schuster, Martavis Bryant and Eli Rogers as Pittsburgh's top 3 WRs.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Steelers WR Antonio Brown has a "partially torn" calf muscle. Brown is "unlikely" to play against the Texans next Monday, per Schefter, but is expected back for the playoffs. It's relatively good news for Pittsburgh but a tough break for fantasy owners who advance to Week 16. Assuming Brown is out, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Martavis Bryant and Eli Rogers figure to serve as the Steelers' top 3 WRs in a plus matchup vs. Houston.

Steelers WR Antonio Brown suffered a left leg injury in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game against the Patriots. His lower leg got trapped between 2 defenders as he went to make a catch. Brown put no weight on the leg as he was helped off the field. We'll update his status when we learn more.

Update: The Steelers announced that Brown has a calf injury and is questionable to return.

Update: HC Mike Tomlin said heading into halftime that he doesn't expect Brown to return today.

Update: The team announced that Brown is heading to the hospital for further evaluation and won't return today.

Steelers WR Antonio Brown said his injured toe is "feeling a lot better" heading into Sunday night's game against the Ravens. He put in full practices on Wednesday and Friday, sitting out in between. Brown, of course, ripped off an 8-101-1 line vs. the Bengals last Monday night. Expect another big one against a Baltimore secondary missing top CB Jimmy Smith.

Steelers WR Antonio Brown (toe) is active for tonight's game against the Bengals. He reportedly went just half-speed during warmups and moved "gingerly," according to ESPN's Suzy Kolber. There's certainly more risk than usual with Brown, but he's still worth getting in fantasy lineups if you waited on him.

There's "optimism" that Steelers WR Antonio Brown (toe) will be able to play against the Bengals tonight, according to NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala. She adds, though, that Brown remains a game-time decision. Fantasy owners simply need to wait until inactives are announced around 7 pm ET tonight. Brown remains a must-start if he suits up.

There's a "real question" whether Steelers WR Antonio Brown (toe) is able to play against the Bengals on Monday night, ESPN's Adam Schefter said on SportsCenter. Brown didn't practice on Friday or Saturday, and it's become clear that this toe issue is a legitimate concern. He'll be worth getting into fantasy lineups if he's active tomorrow, but you need to have a replacement option from that game if you plan on using Brown.

Steelers WR Antonio Brown missed practice again Saturday with his toe injury and is officially questionable for Monday night's game at Cincinnati. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, HC Mike Tomlin has a general rule against playing players who don't practice 2 days before the game. We're guessing he'd make an exception if Brown appears ready Monday night. The league's best wideout hasn't lost a game to injury since 2012 and is obviously worth waiting for, even if you need to roster someone such as Brandon LaFell, Tyler Boyd or Justin Hunter as insurance.

Steelers WR Antonio Brown was held out of Friday's practice and listed on the injury report with a toe. "I’m told it’s minor and he should be fine," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport tweeted. We'll see if Brown is able to get back on the practice field tomorrow, ahead of Monday night's game vs. the Bengals. He hasn't missed a regular-season game due to injury since 2012.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger tweeted on Friday that he'll return for his 14th season in 2017. He had suggested earlier this offseason that he was considering retirement, although no one seemed to take it very seriously. Despite turning 35 last month and suffering an assortment of injuries, Roethlisberger remained effective last season. He ranked 7th among QBs in fantasy points per game -- albeit with some nasty home/road splits. Big Ben's return is obviously excellent news for RB Le'Veon Bell, WR Antonio Brown and the rest of Pittsburgh's skill-position guys.

The Steelers and WR Antonio Brown have agreed to a 4-year, $68 million contract extension. It makes Brown the highest-paid WR in the league -- a distinction he's certainly earned. He's tallied 4 consecutive 100+ catch seasons and has finished as the #1 WR in PPR scoring in 3 straight years. Turning 29 in July, Brown should still have a few elite seasons in the tank. He's now locked up with the Steelers through the 2021 campaign.

The NFL has moved kickoff of the Steelers-Chiefs game to 8:20 pm ET on Sunday. The game was originally scheduled to start at 1:05 ET, but Kansas City is expected to get slammed by an ice storm this weekend. The current forecast calls for a 100% chance of rain and 32-degree temperatures for Sunday night, so we're not sure what the new kickoff time is accomplishing. Wind isn't expected to be an issue, but the conditions will obviously be less than ideal for the passing games.

The Steelers aren't messing around with their big dogs in today's meaningless finale. They've deactivated QB Ben Roethlisberger, RB Le'Veon Bell and WR Antonio Brown. QB Landry Jones will start and throw passes to WR Eli Rogers, WR Sammie Coates, WR Cobi Hamilton and TE Jesse James. DeAngelo Williams and Fitzgerald Toussaint will handle backfield duties.

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin admitted Tuesday that QB Ben Roethlisberger, RB Le'Veon Bell and WR Antonio Brown "probably" won't play against the Browns this weekend. If they do, it won't be for more than a series or 2 in the meaningless game. None of the 3 should be in Week 17 fantasy lineups. Landry Jones figures to start at QB with Eli Rogers, Cobi Hamilton and Jesse James as his top 3 weapons. Rogers and James are lower-end fantasy options. We'll be curious to find out whether DeAngelo Williams will get a hefty workload. He'd be a strong fantasy play against a bad Cleveland run defense. Fitzgerald Toussaint is Pittsburgh's other option at RB.

Steelers WR Antonio Brown managed just 5 catches on 11 targets for 78 yards and no TDs against the Bills. Big-time disappointing considering it’s fantasy playoff time. But it’s hard to fault AB. His QB played like Hell, and the Steelers fed the ball to All Pro RB Le'Veon Bell 42 times! Brown’s highlight was a fantastic 40-yard first quarter catch — leaping over CB Ronald Darby and latching onto the ball while barely tapping both feet inbounds. His next 3 games will be against division rivals (Bengals, Ravens, Browns) in cold weather — and with a QB who is feeling some up-and-downs as of late. You can’t bench him at this stretch. But it might be expecting too much to count on huge games the next 2 weeks. Then again, he’s the best WR in the NFL right now.

The forecast for today's Steelers-Bills game calls for 1-3 inches of snow and winds of 10-15 mph. Those certainly aren't ideal conditions for the passing and kicking games, but it's also not enough for us to lower the projections for anyone involved. Use the weather as a tiebreaker if deciding between 2 similarly ranked guys.

The forecast for today's Steelers-Browns game calls for a 30% chance of snow with winds of 27-29 mph and gusts up to 40. That wind is a significant concern. We'd avoid both kickers and downgrade the passing games, especially the guys who rely on downfield stuff. Bang it here for updated projections for the Steelers and Browns.

Steelers insider Ed Bouchette hears that QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) is "on track" to return for this weekend's game against the Ravens. He's practiced on Wednesday and Thursday without a setback. Roethlisberger has historically struggled both in his 1st game back from injury and in Baltimore, so he's more of a low-end QB1 this week. But his return is excellent news for RB Le'Veon Bell and WR Antonio Brown. It also puts Sammie Coates back in play as an upside WR3.

Steelers WR Antonio Brown spent some time on the sideline in Sunday's loss to New England after he took a knee to 1 of his quads, according to Pro Football Talk. Fortunately, a Week 8 bye will give Brown a chance to rest up, and he said he expects to be ready for Week 9. He finished Sunday's game with 7 catches for 106 yards, so his fantasy football owners needn't worry too much about Ben Roethlisberger's continued absence.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) is now expected to miss 4-6 weeks, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen. Ouch. What was originally expected to be a 2-3 week absence was reportedly lengthened by an issue related to a bone bruise suffered last year. "But there's no way to put an exact timetable on it," Roethlisberger told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Ron Cook. "It depends on my pain and how I feel." Big Ben has a history of returning earlier than expected from injuries and will still benefit from the Week 8 bye. But fantasy owners should be prepared to be without him through at least Week 10. His absence is also a blow to WR Antonio Brown, RB Le'Veon Bell and the rest of Pittsburgh's skill-position guys.
