Rams HC Sean McVay said during his press conference Tuesday that CB Aqib Talib will have surgery on his left ankle Thursday. McVay said they don't yet know how long Talib will be out and that doctors will determine the recovery timeline after surgery. Talib was initially diagnosed with a high-ankle sprain. His absence doesn't affect IDP owners but will be worth watching for any potential affect on the Rams' team defense and opposing WRs.

Rams CB Aqib Talib will miss at least a month after suffering a high-ankle sprain in Sunday's win over the Chargers, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. That doesn't impact IDP lineups, but it takes a good starting corner out of the Rams' defense for a while. Combine that with CB Marcus Peters' calf strain and the quick turnaround to play the Vikings this Thursday night, and the L.A. defense faces a decent challenge. That'll be good news for Kirk Cousins owners. We're not downgrading the Rams' team D for fantasy purposes on this news, though.

The Rams lost CB Marcus Peters and CB Aqib Talib to injuries in Sunday's win over the Chargers. We'll see about the status of each starter this week, but a quick turnaround to play the Vikings on Thursday night won't help them.

Update: Peters is expected to miss 2-4 weeks with a calf strain, according to Ian Rapoport. Talib is having surgery on a high left ankle sprain.

The Broncos have ruled DE Derek Wolfe (elbow) and CB Aqib Talib (back) out for Sunday's game at New Orleans.

8:21pm EDT 11/4/16

The Broncos have ruled CB Aqib Talib out for the 2nd straight week with back trouble. His absence didn't help the Chargers' passing game too much last week, but this Sunday features a showdown with Oakland WRs Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree. Denver's #3 CB, Bradley Roby, would be the #1 or #2 for most other teams, so even losing Talib doesn't significantly downgrade the Broncos secondary. Oakland doesn't have a 3rd receiving capable of pulling serious defensive attention away from the top 2 -- with Cooper the most dynamic threat. Don't alter your fantasy plan for the Oakland wideouts. Check our WR rankings to see just where we value them.

2:49pm EDT 10/30/16

The Broncos made CB Aqib Talib a surprise inactive for today's game against the Chargers. Beat writer Mike Klis reports that Talib's "lower back acted up after he returned to practice Friday/Saturday." Denver remains in good shape at CB, with Chris Harris and Bradley Roby as the top 2, but losing Talib obviously hurts arguably the league's best secondary. Give San Diego's WRs a slight boost.

The league on Monday suspended Broncos CB Aqib Talib for 1 game for his eye poke, according to Mike Klis of 9News in Denver. Talib poked the right eye of Colts TE Dwayne Allen on Sunday as Allen argued with Broncos OLB Von Miller after a play. We'll see if Talib appeals it. Missing him against the Chiefs on Sunday shouldn't be a huge deal for an otherwise strong Denver secondary. Bradley Roby looks like the best bet to start in Talib's spot outside if he sits.

Update: Talib told The Denver Post that he'll appeal: "It was not intentional. I should have never went over there in the first place. My emotions got the best of me. I was a little heated ... That's what I regret. As coach (Gary) Kubiak said, I have to be smarter than that." It sure looked intentional from here.

Broncos CB Aqib Talib (ankle) is active today against the Browns despite entering the day questionable. He's a boom/bust IDP option but helps the Denver team D in fantasy.

The Broncos lost a pair of key defensive players to injuries Sunday. OLB Brandon Marshall left with a concussion. He'll obviously need to pass through the league protocol before returning, and we'll keep an eye on the top-shelf IDP performer's status. CB Aqib Talib, meanwhile, suffered a hamstring injury. He initially returned from the injury before halftime but then didn't play a snap in the 2nd half. Talib's a boom/bust IDP prospect who's not worth rostering in most fantasy football leagues, but his cover skills undeniably help the Broncos' D overall. We'll see about his status going forward. Denver heads to Kansas City on Sunday night in Week 13.

Former Patriots CB Aqib Talib has agreed to a 6-year, $57 million deal with the Broncos.  He strengthens a weak spot for a D that tied for 7th most TD passes allowed and yielded the 9th most yards per completion in 2013.  Talib doesn't make enough tackles to deliver steady fantasy value, so although he helps the team D, don't expect much love for him in our 2014 IDP rankings.

11:01am EST 12/1/13

Patriots CB Aqib Talib (hip) is active against Houston today.  He was listed as questionable but expected to play all along.  Look for him to spend a lot of time with Texans WR Andre Johnson.

Patriots CB Aqib Talib is active tonight vs. the Panthers and ready to play for the 1st time since Week 6.  Talib missed the past 3 games after suffering a hip injury against the Saints on Oct. 13.  His return, though, boosts the coverage unit for an already talented fantasy D.  The Pats certainly carry upside into the Monday night matchup with Carolina.

2:18pm EST 11/3/13

Patriots CB Aqib Talib (hip) is inactive for the 3rd straight game.  His absence is bad news for the New England team D and good news for Steelers WR Antonio Brown.  Go ahead and play the Pats as your fantasy D if you already planned to, though.  Pittsburgh still presents plenty of upside.

10:43am EDT 10/27/13

Patriots CB Aqib Talib (hip) is inactive for today's game against the Dolphins.  He's been 1 of the top cover guys in the league this season.  His absence is good news for WR Mike Wallace.

10:41am EDT 10/20/13

As expected, Patriots CB Aqib Talib is inactive for today's meeting with the Jets.  He suffered a hip injury last week and put in just 1 limited practice this week.

9:21pm EDT 10/18/13

Patriots CB Aqib Talib (hip) is doubtful for Sunday's meeting with the Jets.  That's bad news for the New England team D but good news for Jets QB Geno Smith.  We still would rather not let him anywhere near a fantasy lineup.
