B.J. Goodson Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

He Browns have placed LB B.J. Goodson on the COVID list. That obviously knocks him out for Sunday’s game against the Jets. He’s likely the player that the team announced earlier in the day had tested positive. In that case, Goodson would likely miss Week 17 as well. Malcolm Smith looks like the best bet to lead Cleveland LBs in snaps while Goodson is out, with Jacob Phillips and Sione Takitaki behind him. Smith is the only one we’d consider for IDP use this week, in most cases

Browns LB Mack Wilson suffered a "significant" hyperextension of his left knee in practice Tuesday, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Cleveland.com reports that Wilson doesn't yet know whether he'll need surgery, but he tweeted Wednesday like a guy who expects to be out a while: "A lot of emotions running through my head rn ... 5ive1 will be back and better with an even bigger chip on my shoulder I promise you." We'll see about the specifics on Wilson's condition. For now, though, you shouldn't be drafting him in IDP leagues. Cleveland faces a muddle at LB now, with rookie Jacob Phillips, 2nd-year man Sione Takitaki and free-agent addition B.J. Goodson among the leading options for playing time.

The Giants have ruled ILB Alec Ogletree out for the 2nd straight week with his concussion. That should mean more playing time again for LB B.J. Goodson. He cracked 80% playing time last week for just the 2nd time all season but collected a mere 6 tackles (4 solo). Goodson certainly presents upside beyond that with Ogletree out but isn't a lock for big IDP production.

The Giants have ruled out MLB Alec Ogletree for Sunday's game in Indianapolis because of a concussion. Ogletree's absence should mean more playing time for LB B.J. Goodson. The Giants' other ILB starter played 87% of the snaps the last time Ogletree missed a game and didn't reach 57% in any other contest until last week (when he hit 65%).

The Giants have ruled LB B.J. Goodson out for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. He wouldn't have been an IDP option if active, but his absence makes it easier to use Giants LB Kelvin Sheppard in fantasy lineups. Sheppard has played 78% of the snaps or more in 4 straight appearances.

Giants MLB B.J. Goodson left Sunday's loss to the Seahawks early with a left ankle injury. The New York Daily News reports that he had a walking boot and crutches as he left the stadium. HC Ben McAdoo offered no further details of the injury after the game. The Giants get a Week 8 bye, so we'll see if the injury costs Goodson any further time. LB Keenan Robinson picked up extra snaps against Seattle.

The Giants have ruled MLB B.J. Goodson out for Sunday's game against the Eagles with the shin injury that also cost him Week 2. We'll see how playing time goes in his absence. Rookie Calvin Munson started and played every defensive snap last Monday night. But veteran LB Keenan Robinson returned to practice this week after starting the year sidelined by concussion issues. Elsewhere on the Giants defense, top CB Janoris Jenkins (ankle) is questionable. That's bigger news for Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery than for IDP owners. Missing Jenkins would significantly improve Jeffery's fantasy outlook.

The Giants have ruled MLB B.J. Goodson (shin) and CB Janoris Jenkins (hand, ankle) out for Monday night's game against the Lions. Rookie Calvin Munson will start in Goodson's spot. Jenkins' absence is good news for any fantasy owner that has a Lions WR in a lineup. It's a slight ding to the upside of the Giants' team D but not worth pivoting to the Lions' D, in case you're considering that.

NJ.com reports that the Giants expect to start rookie Calvin Munson to start at MLB in place of B.J. Goodson against the Lions on Monday night. Goodson is officially questionable with a shin injury sustained in Friday's practice. We'll see about his status for Week 3. Jonathan Casillas is a better IDP bet than Munson if you're needing a fill-in for Goodson

The Giants added LB B.J. Goodson to the injury report Saturday after he missed the week's final practice with a shin injury. HC Ben McAdoo said the issue arose during Friday's workout and that they pulled him off the field as it got sore, according to the New York Daily News. He's listed as questionable for the Monday night game against the Lions. An active Goodson would be worth waiting for, after the new starter delivered 18 tackles against Dallas in the opener. You'll need an insurance LB from the Monday night game if you want to wait, though. Assuming Lions MLB Jarrad Davis is taken, your best options would be Giants OLB Jonathan Casillas and Lions OLB Tahir Whitehead. In a flex spot, Lions safeties Tavon Wilson and Glover Guin, Giants CB Eli Apple and Giants S Darian Thompson follow as potential fill-ins.

Giants DC Steve Spagnuolo says he has been pleased with MLB B.J. Goodson's play in coverage, according to NJ.com's James Kratch. "Very good. He runs real well," Spagnuolo said when asked about Goodson's coverage. "He’s embraced the whole thing, being a linebacker and taking command. I love the look in his eye." The DC further indicated that Goodson will stay on the field in sub packages, which he has been doing this summer. That's a big help to Goodson's IDP outlook, which looks strongest among Giants LBs -- and stronger than Giants LBs have looked for at least several years. He's an upside target late in fantasy football drafts who has taken a giant leap up our IDP rankings with more role certainty.
