The Chargers have ruled LB Jatavis Brown (knee) and CB Brandon Flowers (concussion) out for Sunday's game against the Texans. That leaves Korey Toomer starting next to LB Denzel Perryman, who's ready to return from his hamstring injury. Perryman's a halftime player when healthy, so we'd bet on Toomer retaining a 3-down role and a solid IDP profile this week.

The Chargers have ruled CB Brandon Flowers (concussion) out for Sunday's game at Oakland. LB Denzel Perryman is questionable with the shoulder injury that forced him out of the Week 4 loss to the Saints. Perryman put in a limited practice Wednesday but then sat out Thursday and Friday. Don't expect to have him available Sunday. Even if he's active, Perryman would make for a very risky IDP candidate.

The Chargers have ruled CB Brandon Flowers out for Sunday's game against the Saints with a concussion. Losing a starting corner against New Orleans is never good news, but the veteran is arguably San Diego's 3rd-best cover man behind Jason Verett and Casey Hayward. So his absence shouldn't be too big a blow to the defense. Rookie LB Jatavis Brown (hamstring) is also questionable but put in a full practice Friday.

The Chargers landed a much-needed upgrade to their secondary Tuesday, signing former Chiefs CB Brandon Flowers.  Despite a down 2013 by nearly all accounts -- Pro Football Focus pegged him for a 66.7% catch rate allowed and 103.9 QB rating on targets his way -- Flowers instantly becomes the top corner on a D that figures to start 2014 first-rounder Jason Verrett right away.  Even slight improvement from the pass coverage could help turn San Diego into a sleeper fantasy D, though.  There's young pass-rushing upside in 3rd-year OLB Melvin Ingram, rookie Jeremiah Attaochu and veteran Dwight Freeney.  ILBs Donald Butler and Manti Te'o provide turnover threats when healthy.  Don't draft the Chargers' D to your fantasy football team.  But keep an eye on them as a potential waiver-wire option in season.  Flowers, by the way, isn't much of an IDP factor.

Chiefs CB Brandon Flowers (knee) is inactive for today's game against the Raiders.  It's a matchup upgrade for QB Terrelle Pryor and WR Denarius Moore.

Chiefs top CB Brandon Flowers (knee) is inactive for today's game against the Giants.  It's good news for WRs Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks, who should both be in fantasy lineups despite duds last week.

Chiefs CB Brandon Flowers is active for tonight's visit to Philadelphia.  He had been questionable with a knee issue.  That plus Flowers' low-tackle profile makes him an iffy IDP option for Week 3.  He comes with a high ceiling thanks to his ball skills and Eagles QB Michael Vick's INT history.  But we'd generally prefer someone a bit safer.  Flowers' presence is unequivocally good for the Chiefs' D overall.

Chiefs CB Brandon Flowers is questionable for Thursday night's visit to Philadelphia because of a knee injury that has limited him in practice this week.  Easily the team's top cover man, Flowers would be a significant loss against an Eagles offense that threw for 428 yards Sunday against the Chargers.  No Flowers would certainly be good news for Philly WR DeSean Jackson's fantasy value.

Chiefs top CB Brandon Flowers (heel) is inactive for today's game against the Falcons.  KC is also without its best pass-rusher in OLB Tamba Hali (suspension).  They're going to struggle stopping QB Matt Ryan and the Falcons' passing attack.

Despite matching questionable tags, both Chiefs starting CBs are active for tonight's matchup with the Patriots. Brandon Flowers and Brandon Carr could each see plenty of action against New England's active passing game.

The Chiefs list both starting CBs, Brandon Flowers and Brandon Carr, as questionable against the Patriots on Monday night. The fact that each practiced multiple days this week leaves us guessing that both will play, but there's been no real hint provided by team media observers. Chiefs FS Kendrick Lewis looks like the best insurance policy for anyone looking to start 1 of the Brandons.

12:19pm EDT 10/2/11

Chiefs top CB Brandon Flowers (ankle) is active for today's game against the Vikings.  It puts a dent in WR Percy Harvin's upside.

Chiefs top CB Brandon Flowers practiced Wednesday and said his sprained ankle felt even better than he expected. Flowers said he plans to test it further in Thursday's workouts and appears on track to play Sunday. That would be bad news for the Minnesota passing game ... if the Vikings were doing enough in that area for it to qualify as a "passing game."

The Kansas City Star reports Chiefs CB Brandon Flowers will require X-rays Monday on the ankle injury that forced him out of Sunday's game. Flowers said he's hoping it's just a bad sprain, which doesn't sound terribly good for a CB. We'll keep an eye on his status heading into Week 4.
