Rams insider Joe Lyons thinks QB Sam Bradford is "primed for a big season."  After watching a little over a week of training camp, Lyons sees the Rams offense looking to "spread the field with the short- and medium-range passing game."  There are plenty of weapons here with Tavon Austin, Chris Givens and Jared Cook.  And Bradford looks "much more comfortable" in his 2nd season with OC Brian Schottenheimer, per Lyons.  We also talked to Lyons about Tavon Austin, Jared Cook, Brian Quick and the Rams backfield.  Click here to check out the entire interview.

Rams WR Brian Quick continues to sit behind Tavon Austin, Chris Givens and Austin Pettis on the depth chart.  The 2nd-year wideout has "made strides but still has work to do," according to insider Jim Thomas.  "He needs to display more consistency catching the ball and get better at using his size to grab contested or 50-50 balls," Thomas adds.  It's worth noting that Quick has been seeing plenty of action with the 1st-team offense.  Even if he's unable to climb the depth chart, he'll get on the field this year in St. Louis' spread attack.  We still like Quick's odds to move past Pettis at some point this season.  But for now, he remains just a late-round flier.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Rams WR Brian Quick finished spring workouts as the team's #4 receiver.  Quick reportedly didn't disappoint coaches but sits behind WR Austin Pettis in the battle to start at the "X" spot.  St. Louis knew Quick would take some time to develop after arriving from Appalachian State in last year's draft.  Pettis hasn't wowed through 2 years but might be ready for more action in his 3rd season.  We'll see how this fight plays out in training camp.  Neither looks particularly attractive as a fantasy option.  We'll draft slot man Tavon Austin and starting "Z" WR Chris Givens well ahead of Pettis and Quick.

Rams WR Brian Quick admits that he struggled learning the offense in his 2012 rookie year.  “This offense is a lot more complicated than anything I’ve run before," he said. “You’re constantly working on the little things, trying to make sure that everything is perfect. By the second half of last season, though, I felt a lot more comfortable."  Quick managed just 5 scoreless catches over the first half of last year.  He had 6 grabs during the 2nd half but did score twice.  “Last year, for me, was a learning year, and that’s something I’m looking to build on," he said.  “But now, after that first year, I really feel like I have a better feel for the offense and my role here. I’m ready to take my game to the next level."  Quick is expected to start alongside Chris Givens this year, with Tavon Austin manning the slot.  The Appalachian State product has plenty of raw ability.  We'll see if he's able to convert that into fantasy production in 2013.  For now, consider him more of a dynasty stash than a redraft sleeper.

According to a team source, Rams WR Danny Amendola has a broken collarbone.  That comes with a 4-6 week timetable.  Don't expect to see him back on the field until November.  St. Louis' WR corps goes from ugly to hideous.  Amendola's absence should open up more snaps for rookies Chris Givens and Brian Quick.  WR Steve Smith might see some action in the slot too.  None of these guys will be anything more than desperation fantasy options though.

Rams WR Brian Quick struggled throughout OTAs and minicamp.  He wasn't much better early on in training camp.  But the rookie has started to come on over the past week.  He's been working with the starters and impressing QB Sam Bradford.  “Wow, it looked like the lightbulb came on today for him,” Bradford said after practice Thursday. “He had a great practice, made a lot of tough catches in practice.”  Quick is a raw prospect out of Appalachian State, so it's not surprising that he got off to a slow start.  His recent improvement is encouraging though.  This guy definitely has the size and athleticism to be an impact player at the NFL level.  We'll continue to monitor his progress.  Quick should see plenty of action this season, but he'll be tough to trust as a weekly fantasy starter.

ESPN's John Clayton reports that the Rams are looking for more consistency from rookie WR Brian Quick.  It's not surprising considering Quick is a raw prospect from small-school Appalachian State.  Clayton even mentions that fellow rookie WR Chris Givens is "slightly ahead" of Quick in his development.  Quick's combination of size, speed, and athleticism gives him ample long-term upside, but we're not expecting him to be a consistent fantasy contributor in 2012.  He's being overvalued at his current 11th-round ADP.

Rams HC Jeff Fisher confirmed that the team expects rookie WR Brian Quick to make an immediate impact.  "We expect him to play and be a big part of our offense," Fisher said.  "It's a long time between now and the opener, so we feel like he's got a chance to continue to develop and become more comfortable with what we're doing. We wouldn't have taken him at the spot where we took him were we not convinced that he was one of those guys that could learn fast and help us very early in the season."  Quick was a standout at rookie minicamp this past week, impressing with his combination of size, speed, and athleticism.  He's raw, but the Rams are desperate for a receiver to step up.  Look for Quick to be in the starting lineup for the season-opener.  He'll be a viable late-round flier in fantasy drafts.

After missing out on WR Justin Blackmon, WR Brian Quick became the Rams' top target. The Appalachian State product blew the coaching staff away at a private workout a week ago. "We were all pretty impressed," OC Brian Schottenheimer said. "The ball [practically] never hit the ground once. Even though he's a tall guy, he got his weight low and grabbed the ball without making it look difficult. He got in and out of breaks, and he was explosive." A small-school product who didn't start playing football until his senior year in high school, Quick is considered raw. But he has the size (6'4, 220 pounds), speed (4.48), and athleticism to develop into a #1 WR. Considering the Rams' underwhelming group of receivers, Quick has a shot to jump right into the starting lineup. "He's a tall, athletic, talented receiver," HC Jeff Fisher said. "He's got great speed and impressive ball skills. He might not be a big name, but we believe he'll do some big things for us."

After failing to add a weapon for QB Sam Bradford in the 1st-round, the Rams selected Appalachian State WR Brian Quick with the first pick of the 2nd. Quick has ideal measureables: 6’4, 220-pound size with 4.48 speed and a big-time vertical. But the small school product is raw, needing to improve his route-running and hands. St. Louis is desperate for an outside threat, though, so Quick has a good shot at winning a starting job out of training camp.
