The Patriots have signed WR Bruce Ellington to a 1-year deal. The 27-year-old has battled injuries throughout his career and is averaging just 9.7 yards per catch. He did haul in 23 balls over a 4-game stretch in Detroit late last season -- but he averaged 5.7 yards per catch before hurting his hamstring. There's opportunity in New England as the current depth chart stands, but Ellington remains a long shot for 2019 fantasy value.

Lions WR Bruce Ellington (hamstring) returned to limited practices this week but is out for Sunday’s game against the Vikings. That again leaves Andy Jones and T.J. Jones as Detroit’s #2 and #3 WRs. Neither is a fantasy option.

Lions WR Bruce Ellington (hamstring) is out for Sunday’s game against the Bills. His absence leaves T.J. Jones and Andy Jones behind Kenny Golladay on the depth chart. Detroit’s offense is a mess.

Lions WR Bruce Ellington was knocked out of Sunday's game against the Cardinals with a hamstring injury. He caught all 4 of his targets but for just 17 yards before exiting. We'll look for an update on the severity of his injury.

Lions WR Marvin Jones (knee) didn’t practice all week and is out for Sunday’s game against the Panthers. He’s going for a 2nd opinion on that injured knee, which usually isn’t a good sign. Jones’ absence leaves T.J. Jones, Brandon Powell and Bruce Ellington behind Kenny Golladay on the WR depth chart. Golladay should dominate targets this weekend. And RB Theo Riddick figures to play a big role in the passing game.

The Lions have signed WR Bruce Ellington. Houston's 2014 4th-round pick has had trouble staying healthy and has just 56 catches across 5 NFL seasons. He'll compete for slot snaps in Detroit but is a long shot for fantasy relevance.

Texans WR Bruce Ellington has been placed on IR with a hamstring injury suffered in last week's loss to the Giants. He had been serving as Houston's #3 WR. That job should go to rookie Keke Coutee as soon as he gets over his own hamstring injury. WRs DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller will continue to dominate Texans targets.

Texans WR Will Fuller (hamstring) is officially inactive for today’s game against the Patriots. Rookie Keke Coutee (hamstring) is also inactive. That leaves Bruce Ellington, Sammie Coates and Vyncint Smith behind DeAndre Hopkins on the depth chart. Hopkins is obviously the only fantasy play here. He’s a strong bet for 10+ targets.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that Texans WR Will Fuller (hamstring) is out for today's game in New England. That should mean an expanded role for WR Bruce Ellington, though we wouldn't go out of our way to get him into Week 1 fantasy football lineups.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Texans WR Will Fuller (hamstring) is "unlikely" to play against the Patriots today. "He wants to test it pregame first before making final decision," Schefter adds. We'll find out Fuller's official status by noon ET, but he's at risk of being limited and/or aggravating that hamstring injury if he plays. Fuller should be on fantasy benches for Week 1. His absence leaves Bruce Ellington as Houston's #2 WR. TE Ryan Griffin could also see a few extra looks, but WR DeAndre Hopkins will be the target hog.

Texans HC Bill O'Brien said Tuesday that it "doesn't look great" for WR Bruce Ellington (hamstring) to play against the 49ers this weekend. We'll see if WRs Will Fuller (ribs) and Braxton Miller (concussion) are available. Especially if Fuller remains out, TE Stephen Anderson will be an intriguing spot-start option.

Texans WR Bruce Ellington injured his hamstring in the 1st half of Sunday's game vs. the Titans and is questionable to return. His absence leaves Braxton Miller as Houston's #2 WR.

Texans WR Bruce Ellington left Sunday's game against the Jaguars with a concussion. He didn't catch a pass before leaving the game.

The 49ers have placed WR Bruce Ellington on IR with the hamstring injury he suffered in the 3rd preseason game. Ellington built sleeper buzz all offseason as San Francisco's projected slot receiver. Now he'll miss his entire 3rd NFL season after a pair of disappointing campaigns to open his career. The 49ers' WR corps, meanwhile, gets even weaker. Torrey Smith and Quinton Patton are expected to start on the outside. Newly-acquired Jeremy Kerley might be the favorite for slot duties. The biggest winner, though, might be TE Vance McDonald. He and Smith are the only 49ers pass-catchers worth drafting.

49ers WR Bruce Ellington suffered a hamstring injury in Friday night's preseason game. HC Chip Kelly didn't have an update on the severity afterwards. We'll see when Ellington is able to get back on the practice field. He's set to play a significant role this year as San Francisco's slot receiver but needs to stay healthy. He missed time earlier this month with an ankle issue.

49ers RB Carlos Hyde suffered a concussion in Friday night's preseason game. He carried 4 times for 30 yards before exiting. It's the 1st known concussion of Hyde's career. He has 15 days to get cleared in time for San Francisco's regular-season opener on Monday, September 12. If Hyde isn't available, Shaun Draughn would step in as the lead back.

Per reporter Matt Barrows, 49ers WR Bruce Ellington “appears poised for a big role” in new HC Chip Kelly’s offense. Ellington, who boasts an impressive athletic profile, has steadily gained momentum this summer. He jammed a finger in Thursday’s practice, but it’s just a minor setback. In an offense desperate for weapons, Ellington carries appeal as a late-round flier.

Per beat writer Matt Barrows, 49ers WR Bruce Ellington was one of the standouts from spring practices. Ellington struggled with injuries over his first 2 seasons. But Barrows believes the 5’9 WR is positioned to be the “break-out player” on this offense. Ellington’s reportedly built chemistry with likely Week 1 starter Blaine Gabbert, whose conservative approach matches the WR’s short-range game. And there’s certainly a need for someone to step up behind Torrey Smith. The winner of the #2 job will at least carry some deep league appeal.

49ers WR Anquan Boldin (hamstring) is inactive for today’s game against the Rams. That leaves Torrey Smith as the #1 WR with Quinton Patton, Bruce Ellington and Jerome Simpson behind him. We'd avoid the entire Niners passing game.
