Jets HC Todd Bowles named Josh McCown the team's starting QB on Monday. He really had no choice after Christian Hackenberg puked all over himself this preseason and Bryce Petty injured his knee on Saturday night. McCown went 3-for-4 for 72 yards and a score in his only preseason appearance back in Week 1. He at least gives the Jets a veteran presence but is unlikely to become a fantasy option. There's still a good chance we see Hackenberg and/or Petty during the regular season.

Jets QB Bryce Petty suffered a Grade 1 MCL sprain in Saturday's preseason game against the Giants, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. It's a minor injury -- and Petty is hoping to play in Thursday's preseason finale, per Schefter. His 250-yard, 3-TD performance vs. the G-Men was the best by a Jets QB this preseason, but it's unclear if Petty is in the running for the Week 1 job.

Jets QB Christian Hackenberg got the start in Saturday night's preseason game and proceeded to embarrass himself. He completed 8 of 15 passes for 60 yards, 0 TDs and 2 INTs. Both picks were returned for scores by the Giants. If the Jets are interested in winning (and they honestly might not be), they can't consider Hackenberg a viable option for the Week 1 starting job. QB Bryce Petty lit it up after replacing Hackenberg. QB Josh McCown was held out. This is obviously a situation you're staying far, far away from in fantasy drafts.

Update: Hackenberg re-entered late in the 4th quarter for an injured Petty and led a TD drive. He finished 12 of 21 for 126 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs.

The Jets have signed QB Josh McCown to a 1-year, $6 million deal. He joins Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty in the QB room. Neither of the youngsters seem ready to start, so it might be a 38-year-old McCown under center for the Jets come Week 1. He appeared in 5 games for the Browns last year, completing an ugly 54.5% of his passes with 6 TDs and 6 INTs. McCown had been better over the previous few seasons, but it's quite possible he's simply out of gas at this point.

Jets QB Bryce Petty has been diagnosed with a torn labrum in his left (non-throwing) shoulder and placed on IR. He finishes the season with a 56.4% completion rate, 6.1 yards per attempt and 3 TDs vs. 7 INTs. Petty certainly didn't look like the Jets' long-term answer at QB. Ryan Fitzpatrick figures to be under center for the finale against the Bills.

Jets QB Bryce Petty injured his left (non-throwing) shoulder in the 1st half of Sunday's game in New England. He's officially questionable to return. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has entered the game for the Jets.

The forecast for today's Jets-Patriots game calls for a 95% chance of rain with winds around 10 mph. That wind isn't a major concern, but it looks like this will be a sloppy game. We still don't expect the Pats to have any trouble when they take to the air, but the weather could push them further toward the run if (when?) they get out to a big lead.

Jets QB Bryce Petty (chest) put in a full practice on Wednesday and will start Saturday's game against the Patriots, HC Todd Bowles said. Petty has struggled to a 57.7% completion rate, 6.2 yards per attempt and 3 TDs vs. 6 INTs in 5 appearances this season. He's not a Week 16 fantasy option. His availability is good news for WR Robby Anderson and bad news for WR Brandon Marshall.

Jets QB Bryce Petty suffered a chest injury in Saturday night's loss to the Dolphins. X-rays on his ribs came back negative, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, but he's having a CT scan to check for damage to his lungs. We should get an update on Monday.

Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick was benched in the 3rd quarter of Monday night's loss to the Colts. He finished 5-of-12 for 81 yards with 0 TDs and 1 ugly INT. QB Bryce Petty replaced Fitzpatrick and wasn't much better, completing 11 of 25 passes for 135 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs. HC Todd Bowles claimed after the game that it was "the plan all along" to start Petty for the final 4 games of the season. He won't be a fantasy option against the 49ers next weekend.

Jets HC Todd Bowles ended any QB speculation Monday by stating that Ryan Fitzpatrick will remain the starter and that there was "no debate," according to ESPN's Rich Cimini. Bowles declined to confirm Fitz's starter status Sunday night after the game, but the coach has shown similar caution with his words before. Fantasy owners should consider Fitzpatrick in the spot-starter mix for at least next Monday night's game against the Colts -- and likely at San Francisco in Week 14 as well.

Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (knee) is active for today's game against the Rams, but QB Bryce Petty gets the start. Petty figures to hang on to the starting gig as long as he plays well enough (which might not be very long).

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that Jets players expect QB Bryce Petty to draw the start against the Rams today. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick was limited in practice this week with his knee injury, but it sounds like he's healthy enough to play. So this looks like a changing of the guard in New York. Fitzpatrick hasn't been good this season, but it's tough to imagine Petty being an upgrade in the short term. We moved Brandon Marshall down the Week 10 WR Rankings.

Update: ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that Petty will start.

Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Rams. HC Todd Bowles labeled him a game-time decision on Friday, but Fitzpatrick practiced all week and is expected to play. QB Bryce Petty would start otherwise. Neither guy should be in fantasy lineups.

Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick put in a limited practice Wednesday after suffering an MCL sprain last time out. ESPN's Rich Cimini reports that Fitz is on track to play Sunday against the Rams. "I'm definitely optimistic that I'll be able to go our there and play," the QB said. "I'm going to do everything I can between now and then to make sure that happens." We'll keep an eye on his status throughout the week.

Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will get an MRI Monday after hurting his left knee in Sunday's loss to the Dolphins, according to ESPN's Rich Cimini. Fitzpatrick briefly left the game after hurting the knee but returned shortly thereafter. HC Todd Bowles has said that Fitzpatrick will remain the starter if he's ready to play. If he's not, it'll likely be QB Bryce Petty's turn.

The Jets confirmed that rookie QB Bryce Petty won't be in the mix to start this season.  "Time will tell what kind of player he'll become, but we do think he has all the physical attributes and parts to be a good quarterback in this league," GM Mike Maccagnan. "It's going to be a maturation process from where he is in college ... but we thought he had all the raw potential and ability, that if you're going to invest time in a quarterback, he had all those attributes that would be very good to work with."  Petty is coming from Baylor's uptempo, spread offense, so he has a significant adjustment to make to the pro game.  The good news is that OC Chan Gailey's offense includes lots of spread elements, so Petty seems like a good fit.  He's worth stashing in dynasty leagues.  Ryan Fitzpatrick and Geno Smith will duke it out this summer for the Jets' 2015 starting job.
