Saints WR Cameron Meredith has agreed to take a $2.1 million pay cut, according to ESPN's Field Yates. That means he'll earn just $1.3 million in 2019 salary. That doesn't bode particularly well for the 26-year-old's outlook. Meredith appeared in just 6 games last year and caught a mere 9 balls. The fact that he was willing to take a roughly 62% pay cut rather than test the market suggests he's not overly confident in the knee that basically cost him the past 2 seasons. We'll see about Meredith's progress through the offseason and training camp, but he's not worth drafting in early best-ball formats -- perhaps near the end of the FFPC 28-rounders. If Meredith remains limited heading into 2019, Keith Kirkwood and Tre'Quan Smith could benefit.

Saints WR Cameron Meredith needs arthroscopic knee surgery, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, and will be placed on IR. It's unclear if the surgery is to the same knee in which Meredith tore the ACL and MCL in August 2017. It's not a major surprise that this turned out to be a lost season for him after that multi-ligament tear. He inked a 2-year deal with New Orleans, so we'll see if he can get healthy and make an impact in 2019. Meredith is still just 26.

The Saints have placed WR Ted Ginn on IR. We still don't have any details on his knee injury or whether he's a candidate to return after 8 weeks. But Ginn should be dropped in all fantasy leagues. Rookie WR Tre'Quan Smith is the bigger winner here, as he figures to take over Ginn's role on the outside. He played 67% of the snaps and hauled in all 3 of his targets for 111 yards and 2 scores with Ginn out in New Orleans' last game. WR Cameron Meredith is also a candidate for increased volume.

Saints WR Ted Ginn (knee) is out for Monday night's game against the Redskins. Ginn ranks 3rd on the team with 22 targets, so it's a significant loss. His absence should mean more snaps and possibly targets for WRs Cameron Meredith and Tre'Quan Smith. Both guys remains just fantasy fliers, though.

Saints WR Cameron Meredith is active for today's game against the Falcons after being a healthy scratch the first 2 weeks. He shouldn't be in fantasy lineups, but we'll be keeping a close eye on how big a role Meredith plays. He might be worth adding now if he's available in deeper fantasy leagues.

Saints WR Cameron Meredith is inactive for today's opener against the Bucs as he continues to work back from last year's knee injury. There's still upside here, but Meredith is droppable in shallower fantasy leagues. Michael Thomas, Ted Ginn and Austin Carr are expected to serve as New Orleans' top 3 WRs today. Ginn and Carr are just fantasy fliers.

WR Austin Carr will start in the slot for the Saints against the Buccaneers today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That would seem to put him ahead of WR Cameron Meredith on the depth chart for now, with Michael Thomas (for sure) and Ted Ginn the likely outside starters. Thomas is the position's only sure target bet in New Orleans right now. We'll see how playing time and passing looks get distributed now that the real games are beginning. Carr's worth an add this morning in deeper leagues. We've seen through the years how valuable any regular WR gig with Drew Brees can be. Lance Moore and Willie Snead each hit the NFL as undrafted free agents, just like Carr.

Saints WR Cameron Meredith hauled in 2 balls for 72 yards and a score in Thursday night's preseason finale. He toasted his defender for this 56-yard bomb and later scored from 16 yards out. We usually don't like to see guys getting extensive run in the 4th exhibition, but Meredith needed it. He's coming off a torn ACL, missed a couple weeks of camp with an undisclosed injury and had yet to catch a pass this preseason. Now we'll see exactly what kind of role Meredith plays out of the gate. He won't be a recommended Week 1 fantasy starter, but we still expect him to eventually settle in as the Saints' #2 WR.

WR Cameron Meredith made his Saints debut in the team's 2nd preseason game on Friday night -- his 1st live action since tearing his ACL and MCL last August. He said afterward that it "felt great" to be back out there but also admitted that he still has work to do. "I still need to kind of get my wheels together, get up to the speed of the game a little bit," Meredith said. No surprise there. We'll be keeping a close eye on Meredith's usage in New Orleans' 3rd preseason game, when QB Drew Brees is expected to play. (He hasn't played in the first 2 exhibitions.) Meredith still has a good shot to emerge as the #2 WR and is an upside pick in the double-digit rounds of fantasy drafts.

Saints WR Cameron Meredith has missed several straight days of practice -- along with the 1st preseason game -- while dealing with an undisclosed injury. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the issue is not Meredith's surgically repaired left knee, but that's all we know. Meredith on Tuesday tweeted, "So many obstacles on my path, trying to test my perseverance." We'll see if any further info on his situation comes out and/or when Meredith returns to the field. Until then, it might be a good idea to back off him in best-ball drafts a bit. Rookie Tre'Quan Smith, on the other hand, gains late-round intrigue as long as Meredith remains sidelined.

Update: Meredith returned to practice Tuesday, according to Nick Underhill of The New Orleans Advocate.

The Saints have released WR Brandon Coleman. Serving mostly as a reserve slot man and 4th wideout, Coleman ranked just 5th on the team in targets and catches last year, 7th in each category the year before. He wouldn't have been much of a 2018 fantasy factor, but his departure leaves more available for players such as rookie WR Tre'Quan Smith and veteran WR Ted Ginn. Free-agent acquisition Cameron Meredith already appeared headed for the #2 WR role behind Michael Thomas.

Saints WR Cameron Meredith (knee) avoided the PUP list and is ready for the start of training camp. He's nearly 12 months removed from tearing his ACL and MCL and has had a smooth rehab. Meredith is the favorite for #2 WR duties in New Orleans -- a role that would give him a good shot at WR3 fantasy production. He's a value at his 12th-round ADP.

Saints WR Cameron Meredith is happy with his recovery from last August's torn ACL and MCL and expects to be ready for the start of training camp. “On a scale of 1 to 10, it’s almost a 10. I haven’t had a setback along the recovery process,” Meredith said. “I’m gaining strength day by day, month by month. I’m excited to see how soon I can get back… But the main objective for me is to do as much as I can with the trainers to get ready for the season. My goal is to try and get back to training camp. As long as there aren’t any setbacks or anything like that, it shouldn’t be a problem.” Meredith can use all the reps he can get in HC Sean Payton's offense and with QB Drew Brees. If he's healthy and comfortable in the offense, he has a good shot to emerge as the Saints' #2 WR -- a role that would make him a major fantasy factor. Meredith is well worth a shot at his 12th-round ADP.

Saints HC Sean Payton told NOLA.com this week that WR Cameron Meredith is ahead of schedule in his return from last year's left ACL tear. That's often said of recovering players, but Meredith showed off his progress by taking part in OTA workouts. The Saints gave him $9.5 million on a 2-year contract as a restricted free agent and could turn Meredith into their #2 WR in targets as soon as this year -- if he can avoid setbacks.

The Bears have declined to match the Saints' offer to WR Cameron Meredith. So he'll head to New Orleans on a 2-year, $9.6 million deal. Meredith is rehabbing from a late-August torn ACL and MCL but flashed back in 2016 with a 66-888-4 line. He's still just 25 and owns a 74th percentile SPARQ score. He should at least settle in as the Saints' #3 WR and could even push Ted Ginn for 2nd on the team in targets behind Michael Thomas.

WR Cameron Meredith has signed a 2-year, $10 million offer sheet with the Saints, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Bears tendered the restricted free agent at the original-round level. That means New Orleans will owe Chicago no compensation, but the Bears get a chance to match the offer. Meredith missed all of last season after tearing his left ACL and MCL, so we'll need to watch his progress this offseason and see exactly when he's ready for full practice. If Meredith's good to go in plenty of time, he'll be in an interesting situation. New Orleans has been a passing-game party for most of Drew Brees' time there, but only Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara topped 70 targets among Saints last year. Ted Ginn drew 70 to rank 3rd on the team and 2nd among Saints WRs. A healthy Meredith could challenge Ginn's status as the #2 WR and approach Willie Snead's 2016 role. We would bet on a bit more passing from the Saints this year, though also not a total swing back from the 2017 rushing emphasis. Meredith makes for an upside late-round pick in best-ball drafts right now. His arrival adds a bit of risk to Ginn but certainly doesn't kill his value.

Bears WR Cameron Meredith has been diagnosed with a torn ACL and a "minor tear" of his MCL, according to the Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs. It's relatively good news. He's done for the 2017 season but is looking at an 8-month rehab timeline -- rather than 12+ months if he had suffered more damage to his left knee. Barring setbacks, Meredith should be ready at least for the start of next year's training camp. He'll be a restricted free agent in March.

Fox Sports' Pam Oliver reports that the Bears believe WR Cameron Meredith suffered a torn ACL in Sunday's preseason game against the Titans. It certainly looked like a season-ending injury when it happened. We've already removed Meredith from the WR rankings. His absence gives former 1st-round pick Kevin White a massive opportunity as Chicago's #1 WR. He needs to stay healthy and play with more consistency, but White is worth a shot as a WR4 with plenty of upside.
