Cardinals QB Carson Palmer announced his retirement on Tuesday. The 1st pick of the 2003 NFL Draft played 15 seasons for the Bengals, Raiders and Cardinals. He finishes with a career 62.5% completion rate, 294 TDs and 187 INTs in 182 games. Palmer's 46,247 passing yards rank 12th on the all-time list. His retirement leaves Arizona looking for both a new QB and a new HC -- and probably increases the chances WR Larry Fitzgerald hangs up the cleats.

The Cardinals have placed QB Carson Palmer (arm) on IR. That officially knocks him out until at least Week 16. Palmer isn't worth holding onto in fantasy leagues. We're betting against him playing again this season. QB Drew Stanton will take over for Arizona, although we could also eventually see QB Blaine Gabbert. Either way, it won't be pretty.

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer has a broken left arm, HC Bruce Arians announced after Sunday's loss to the Rams. He needs surgery and is expected to miss 8 weeks. That'd put him back on the field for Week 16. Palmer should be dropped from fantasy rosters. His loss leaves Arizona with QB Drew Stanton, who was abysmal in relief vs. Los Angeles, completing just 5 of 14 passes for 62 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT. He entered the game with a career 53.2% completion rate. Stanton is obviously a huge downgrade for this offense. The Cardinals figure to lean heavily on RB Adrian Peterson going forward.

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer injured his left (non-throwing) arm in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game against the Rams. He's officially questionable to return. QB Drew Stanton has replaced Palmer. Stay tuned for updates.

Update: Palmer will not return.

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer entered the 2016 season with a tired arm, according to HC Bruce Arians. "Last year, he came in to September, he had already wore his arm out by overthrowing all summer," Arians said. "We found a nice regimen, [and by] November and December he was playing as good as he's ever played." Palmer has adjusted his routine this offseason, and Arians believes his arm is "stronger than ever." Palmer finished 16th among QBs in fantasy points last season but is just a year removed from a top-5 finish. There's plenty of upside at his QB23 ADP.

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer says he'll be throwing a lot less in offseason workouts this year. "Coach is very persuasive," Palmer told The Associated Press, calling it HC Bruce Arians' idea. "He had very good reasons and points why. I'm going to trust his expertise and knowledge of this position because it's as good as it gets." Palmer conceded that he hadn't managed his offseason throwing well for the past "eight or nine years," failing to adjust as he gets older. On one hand, it's a little worrisome Arians finds this change necessary in his fifth year at the helm. On the other, anything that enhances Palmer's hopes of rebounding from last year is a plus. We'll see what reports of his arm strength say come summer. The veteran figures to settle well into QB2 range in redraft ADP anyway.

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer announced that he'll return for another season in 2017. The 37-year-old had a disappointing 2016 campaign, finishing 16th among QBs in fantasy points. His 61.0% completion rate and 7.1 yards per attempt were both his worst marks in 4 years in Arizona. Palmer wasn't helped, though, by WR Michael Floyd's disappearance and WR John Brown's health issues. And he still tossed multiple TDs in 6 of his final 7 games. Palmer shouldn't be drafted as a QB1 in 2017, but he's capable of at least being a fantasy spot starter.

Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald told Sports Illustrated's Jim Trotter that he's "definitely" returning for the 2017 season. He'd been contemplating retirement but will return for a 14th NFL season. Fitz turns 34 in August and has certainly slowed down, posting the 2 lowest yards-per-catch marks (11.1 and 9.6) of his career over the past 2 years. But he's remained effective in his revamped possession-receiver role, tallying the 2 biggest catch totals (109 and 107) and going over 1,000 yards in both seasons. Fitzgerald finished 9th among WRs in PPR points in 2016 and 17th in non-PPR. His 2017 fantasy outlook will depend heavily on whether QB Carson Palmer returns. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport believes Fitzgerald deciding to play another season is a "good sign" that Palmer will do the same.

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer struggled to play in wet conditions in Miami, notching just 145 yards, 2 TDs and 2 INTs. He added 3 fumbles and absorbed 3 sacks. Palmer hit secondary targets Brittan Golden and J.J. Nelson for short-range scores, giving him 4 straight games with 2+ TD passes. Palmer’s in play for Sunday’s home date with the Saints but should be avoided in Week 16 at Seattle.

The Cardinals on Monday placed LT Jared Veldheer on IR. He needs surgery to repair a partially torn right triceps. He had previously suffered the same injury in his left arm in 2013 and missed 10 games after the repair. Veldheer's a big loss for an offense that has proved surprisingly inconsistent throwing the ball and just allowed 8 sacks in the loss at Carolina. QB Carson Palmer takes the biggest hit here -- literally and figuratively. We'll see what Veldheer's loss means to the running game, but the tough RB landscape keeps us from altering RB David Johnson's fantasy outlook at all.

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (hamstring) is active and starting against the Seahawks tonight. That hammy shouldn’t be much of an issue, but Seattle’s 3rd-ranked QB defense sure is. Palmer is just a QB2 for Week 7.

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (hamstring) will start against the Seahawks tonight, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms. Palmer got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday, but we never heard any concern about his status. He's still just a QB2 vs. Seattle's stingy defense.

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Sunday night's game against the Seahawks. He put in limited practices on Thursday and Friday, and HC Bruce Arians confirmed that his QB is "fine." Still, a struggling Palmer isn't a recommended fantasy starter vs. a tough Seattle defense.

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (hamstring) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. He said after Monday night's win over the Jets that he wasn't injured, but he's clearly not at 100%. We haven't seen anything to suggest that he won't play against the Seahawks on Sunday night, but check back tomorrow for another update.

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer suffered a hamstring injury in the 4th quarter of Monday night's game against the Jets. He's officially questionable to return, but we doubt he gets back on the field with Arizona up 28-3. We'll look for an update on Palmer's status tomorrow.

Update: HC Bruce Arians said after the game that Palmer's injury "doesn't look severe."

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (concussion) put in a full week of practice and is set to play against the Jets on Monday night. His struggles so far add some risk to his Week 6 outlook, but only 1 of 5 QBs to face the Jets so far has failed to finish the week among the top 11.

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (concussion) has received full clearance. Barring a setback, he'll be back under center for Monday night's game against the Jets. Only 3 teams have allowed more fantasy points to QBs than the Jets.

The Cardinals have ruled out QB Carson Palmer (concussion) for Thursday night's game against the 49ers. No surprise there. Palmer will work toward getting cleared for Week 6's game against the Jets. QB Drew Stanton starts against the 'Niners and is a significant downgrade -- even to a struggling Palmer. Stanton completed just 4 of 11 passes with 2 INTs last week and completed just 55% of his passes in his last extended action back in 2014.

Cardinals HC Bruce Arians said on SiriusXM Tuesday night that QB Carson Palmer is still experiencing concussion symptoms. That makes him a long shot to receive full clearance for Thursday night's game against the 49ers. Arians didn't rule Palmer out yet and noted that he was in meetings on Tuesday. But it continues to look like QB Drew Stanton will get the ball vs. San Francisco.

Cardinals HC Bruce Arians said at his Monday press conference that he's "more optimistic" that QB Carson Palmer (concussion) will be cleared to play in time for Thursday night's game against the 49ers. That suggests that Palmer might have already made it through a stage or 2 of the league's protocol. It'll still be tough for him to make it all the way through over the next 72 hours, but it's not impossible. We'll continue to monitor his progress.
