Cardinals TE Charles Clay (knee) has been activated from the PUP list. Despite missing the first couple of weeks of camp, he was listed as the starting TE on Arizona's initial depth chart. That makes him the best fantasy bet of the bunch for now, but he's not an exciting pick with the Cardinals expected to feature their WRs and RB David Johnson in the passing game.
Cardinals TE Charles Clay has been placed on the PUP list to open training camp with a knee injury. We don't have any other details on the issue, but Clay has dealt with multiple knee injuries dating back to 2012. The 30-year-old has missed 3 games in both of the past 2 seasons and at least 1 game in 5 straight. Clay's absence early in camp will give TE Ricky Seals-Jones a head start in the race for the starting job.
The Cardinals have signed TE Maxx Williams. The 55th pick of the 2015 NFL Draft totaled just 63 catches across his 4 seasons in Baltimore. Williams just turned 25, though, so it's too early to bury him. Arizona has now added 3 TEs this offseason: Williams, Charles Clay and rookie Caleb Wilson. Ricky Seals-Jones also returns. We'll see how the situation sorts out this summer.
The Cardinals have reached a 1-year deal with former Bills TE Charles Clay. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports it's worth "up to" $3.25 million. That's decent money for a veteran joining an Arizona roster that returns TEs Ricky Seals-Jones and Jermaine Gresham. We'll see how the new coaching staff stacks this crew on the depth chart and what Clay's arrival means for RSJ's playing time. Seals-Jones carries easily the most upside among the trio but will need opportunities. This looks like a situation to avoid until late in current best-ball drafts.
The Bills released TE Charles Clay. The 30-year-old posted a career-low 8.8 YPC in 2018 and continued to battle injuries. Fortunately for Buffalo, the 2019 NFL Draft provides one of the deeper TE classes in recent memory. Consider them likely to invest in a young talent.
Bills TE Charles Clay is "week-to-week" with a hamstring injury, HC Sean McDermott said Monday. Clay hasn't been a fantasy factor all season. His absence leaves Buffalo with TEs Logan Thomas and Jason Croom, but neither is a trusty fantasy play.
Bills TE Charles Clay (shoulder, hip) is active for today’s game against the Packers. With just 4 catches for 47 scoreless yards through 3 games, he’s not a viable fantasy option.
Bills TE Charles Clay (shoulder, hip) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Packers. With just 4 catches for 47 scoreless yards through 3 games, Clay shouldn’t be in your fantasy plans.
The forecast for today's Bills-Ravens game calls for a 100% chance of rain and 15 mph winds with gusts up to 21 mph. This had the makings of a low-scoring, run-heavy game anyways, and this weather only makes that more likely. Try to avoid the Bills passing game. Ravens WRs Michael Crabtree and John Brown are still fine WR3s.
Bills TE Charles Clay (knee) is active for today’s game against the Chargers. He was reportedly a game-time decision, so that knee is still a concern. Clay is more of a TE2 for Week 11.
ESPN's Adam Schefter suggests that Bills TE Charles Clay (knee) will be a game-time for today's tilt with the Chargers. He's listed as questionable after a limited week of practice, but we assumed he'd be fine after returning last week. It sounds like he may have suffered a setback with that knee. With Bills-Chargers not kicking off until 4:05 pm ET, Clay probably belongs on fantasy benches unless you have a viable late-game alternative.
Bills TE Charles Clay (knee) is active for today’s game against the Saints. He’s been out for a month and was limited in practice all week, so it’s possible that he’s on a snap count today. Consider Clay a low-end TE1 for Week 10.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport calls Bills TE Charles Clay (knee) "likely" to play against the Saints today. He got in 3 limited practices this week. Clay has been out for a month, though, so there's certainly a chance he doesn't play his full allotment of snaps today. Consider him a low-end TE1 for Week 10.
Bills TE Charles Clay (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Saints after a limited week of practice. HC Sean McDermott has been optimistic about Clay's status, so we're expecting him to play. It's possible that he's limited in his 1st action since early October, though, making him more of a low-end TE1 for Week 10.
Bills TE Charles Clay (knee) returned to a limited practice on Wednesday. It gives him a shot to play against the Saints this weekend. Clay averaged 4.5 catches and 56.8 yards per game through the season's first 4 weeks. He'll be back in the TE1 mix as soon as he's ready to play a full complement of snaps.
Bills HC Sean McDermott said Friday that TE Charles Clay (knee) is "on track" to return for Week 10. He's missed the past 3 games -- plus a bye week -- with a torn meniscus and sprained MCL. Clay averaged 6.3 targets, 4.5 catches and 56.8 yards per game through the season's first 4 weeks. He was sitting 4th among TEs in both PPR and non-PPR points during that stretch. Clay will return as a weekly TE1 -- even with the addition of WR Kelvin Benjamin.
Bills HC Sean McDermott announced that TE Charles Clay had a "procedure" on his injured knee on Monday and will be out "several weeks." We don't have any other details on the injury, but fantasy owners obviously need to find a replacement. The relative good news is that Buffalo has a Week 6 bye, so it's possible he only misses a couple of games. Clay -- who had emerged as an every-week fantasy starter -- is worth stashing if you have room on your bench.
Update: Clay suffered a torn meniscus and sprained MCL, according to both Pro Football Talk and ESPN's Adam Schefter. Expect him to miss at least a month.
Bills TE Charles Clay hurt his knee in the 1st half of Sunday's game in Cincinnati. He was limping heavily on the sideline and was carted back to the locker room. Don't expect to see him back on the field today.
Update: The team announced he's questionable to return.
WR Anquan Boldin has informed the Bills that he's retiring, according to ESPN's Jim Trotter. "My life's purpose is bigger than football," Boldin said in a statement. Or, he simply decided against a season with a Bills team that's clearly in rebuilding mode. Boldin's departure leaves Jordan Matthews and Zay Jones as the team's clear-cut top 2 WRs. Both guys get a boost up the WR rankings -- although we're finding it tough to get excited about any member of this Buffalo passing game.
