Bills TE Charles Clay injured his back in the 1st half of Sunday's game against the Eagles.  He's officially questionable to return.  Stay tuned for an update.

Bills WR Sammy Watkins is not expected to play against the Titans today, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.  He returned to a limited practice on Friday but didn't sound optimistic about his availability.  Watkins' absence will again leave TE Charles Clay and WR Percy Harvin as Buffalo's top 2 pass-catchers.

"Will he play?  Probably not."  That was Bills HC Rex Ryan on WR Sammy Watkins (calf) in a Wednesday radio appearance.  Watkins went down with a strained calf last weekend and never returned.  His absence will leave Percy Harvin and Robert Woods as Buffalo's top 2 WRs.  It'll also likely mean a few extra targets for TE Charles Clay.

Bills TE Charles Clay will be moving around and lining up all over the formation in OC Greg Roman's offense, according to insider Chris Brown.  “Whether it’s running routes or catching as receivers out of the backfield, he does a good job of moving guys around,” Clay said of Roman. “I can’t think of any position where I’m lined up at more than another."  This -- plus the fact that the Bills handed him $20 million guaranteed -- is a strong sign that Clay will play a major role in the passing game.  He's criminally undervalued at his current 15th-round ADP.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Dolphins have decided not to match the 5-year, $38 million deal the Bills offered TE Charles Clay.  No surprise there.  Buffalo's contract makes Clay 1 of the most expensive TEs in the league.  And the Fins are set at the position with Jordan Cameron and Dion Sims.  Clay's fantasy value takes a hit with the move.  The Bills project as a run-heavy offense and have a deep group of pass-catchers in Clay, Sammy Watkins, Percy Harvin and Robert Woods.

The Bills have finally signed Dolphins restricted free-agent TE Charles Clay to a 5-year, $38 million offer sheet. Miami will now have 5 days to match the offer. But we doubt they'd match that large an offer for Clay after signing TE Jordan Cameron for 2 years at $15 million just a few days ago. We're betting Clay will join the Bills. Buffalo could well sport 1 of the league's most balanced offenses in terms of play-calling, which obviously wouldn't help Clay's volume. He'd also enter an offense that already boasts WRs Sammy Watkins and Percy Harvin. Throw in the questionable QB situation, and Buffalo certainly appears to limit the fantasy upside on Clay. We'll see where he lands once we get into our 2015 fantasy football rankings.

The Dolphins have used their transition tag on TE Charles Clay.  It guarantees the Fins the right to match any offer Clay gets in free agency.  If he remains in Miami under the tag, Clay will make $7.1 million in 2015 (as opposed to $8.4 under the franchise tag).  Clay struggled through a knee injury all last season but posted a 69-759-6 line in 2013.  He figures to be no worse than the #3 option in Miami's passing game this coming year and could be a value pick in 2015 fantasy football drafts.

Dolphins TE Charles Clay has been playing through a knee injury all season that he suffered in training camp.  Insider Omar Kelly reports that Clay's knee will need to be surgically repaired this offseason.  It's certainly been a factor this year.  Clay's averaging a career-low 9.4 yards per catch.  And after averaging 4.3 catches and 47.4 yards per game last year, Clay has managed just 3.7 catches and 35.2 yards per game this season.  He's a weak fantasy play for the rest of 2014.  He'll hit free agency this offseason.

Dolphins HC Joe Philbin was "non-committal" when asked if TE Charles Clay (knee) is in danger of missing Week 1.  “He’s day to day,” Philbin said. “The longer you’re out, the more of a period of getting acclimated back into football. I’d love to have him out here as soon as possible.”  Clay has been sidelined almost 2 weeks and was recently spotted with a brace on his bum knee.  We're not moving him down our rankings yet -- he remains a low-end TE1 -- but he does carry additional risk until he gets back on the field.
