The Eagles have released WR Chris Givens. He was bandied about as a potential starter earlier this offseason but disappointed in training camp and the preseason. Philadelphia figures to open the season with Jordan Matthews, Nelson Agholor, Dorial Green-Beckham and Josh Huff as its top 4 WRs. Givens' release improves Rueben Randle's odds of making the team.

Eagles WR Chris Givens ran with the 1st-team offense on Monday. He and Nelson Agholor worked as the outside WRs, with Jordan Matthews in the slot. Beat writer Eliot Shorr-Parks writes that "it's becoming more and more clear that Givens is going to start" this season. We'll see if he can hold off Rueben Randle and Josh Huff for snaps. Matthews remains the only Eagles WR we're particularly interested in drafting right now.

Eagles WR Nelson Agholor won't face charges after being accused of sexual assault by a stripper, according to the Philadelphia Enquirer's Les Bowen. That should mean Agholor also avoids an NFL suspension. He'll head to training camp as the favorite for #2 WR duties, behind Jordan Matthews and ahead of Rueben Randle, Chris Givens and Josh Huff.

The Eagles have announced that they reached a 1-year deal with former Ravens WR Chris Givens. The onetime Ram visited Philly Wednesday, a day after Baltimore added WR Mike Wallace in free agency. Givens takes similar downfield speed with him to the Eagles but has yet to match the 42 passes he caught as a promising 2012 rookie in St. Louis. Still just 26, Givens joins what might be an open competition for targets behind WR Jordan Matthews and TE Zach Ertz under new HC Doug Pederson and his staff. He'll face 2015 first-round pick Nelson Agholor as primary competition for volume.

The Ravens traded a conditional draft pick to the Rams on Saturday for WR Chris Givens. Baltimore already lacked depth -- and talent -- at the position after losing rookie Breshad Perriman for more time following knee surgery. And then WR Steve Smith suffered a back injury Thursday night that will keep him out for at least Week 5, and WR Michael Campanero landed on IR with a herniated disc. Givens could face immediate opportunity, and his speed makes for an interesting fit with big-armed QB Joe Flacco. But Givens could never find consistency across 3+ seasons with the Rams. He has yet to match his rookie-year totals of 42 catches, 698 yards or 3 TDs. You can stash Givens in deep fantasy football formats and see what happens, but don't expect him to become a fantasy difference-maker.

Ravens WR Steve Smith won't play against the Browns next weekend after suffering a back injury on Thursday night, HC John Harbaugh announced on Saturday.  “I think he’s going to be OK in the long run,” Harbaugh said. “He’s got some small microfractures in his back (from) what I’ve been told. They ruled him out for the Cleveland game. But after that, hopefully he’s going to be back.”  We'll keep tabs on Smith's rehab, but consider him iffy even for Week 6.  Baltimore also placed WR Michael Campanaro (back) on IR and traded for WR Chris Givens.  Marlon Brown and Kamar Aiken figure to start against the Browns next weekend.

Rams WR Chris Givens has already established himself as a big-time deep threat.  He set a rookie record last year with a reception of 50+ yards in 5 straight games.  He hauled in a 59-yarder in this year's preseason opener.  Givens spent this offseason working on his route running to become a more well-rounded receiver.  “He’s done a really good job with his routes, cleaning up his routes,” former Ram Torry Holt said.  The Rams coaching staff has noticed the improvement, too.  They're using Givens in all 3 WR spots.  The talk all offseason has been about rookie Tavon Austin and free-agent addition Jared Cook.  But Givens could lead this team in catches.  He's a value pick at his current 12th-round ADP.

Rams insider Joe Lyons thinks QB Sam Bradford is "primed for a big season."  After watching a little over a week of training camp, Lyons sees the Rams offense looking to "spread the field with the short- and medium-range passing game."  There are plenty of weapons here with Tavon Austin, Chris Givens and Jared Cook.  And Bradford looks "much more comfortable" in his 2nd season with OC Brian Schottenheimer, per Lyons.  We also talked to Lyons about Tavon Austin, Jared Cook, Brian Quick and the Rams backfield.  Click here to check out the entire interview.

Rams WR Chris Givens has had a productive offseason, according to HC Jeff Fisher.  "He was here and he was very, very motivated and focused," Fisher said. "You can see he’s much more familiar with our offense now... I think you see much more consistency out of him early in the season, but I’m pleased with his production so far.”  Givens has gotten lost in the shuffle in St. Louis this offseason.  And fantasy owners are essentially ignoring him.  His ADP sits in the 12th-round.  Givens has plenty of competition for targets, but he's also locked into a starting spot on what should be a pass-heavy offense.  He's capable of serving as an explosive bye-week option for your fantasy squad.

Rams WR Chris Givens spent his rookie season lining up in 1 spot and running mostly deep routes.  He'll play a more versatile role in 2013.  “I expect Chris to have a great year. He works extremely hard," QB Sam Bradford said. “Where last year he primarily played the ‘Z’ for us, now he’s also being asked to play inside. He’s being asked to go backside and play ‘X’. He’s a really, really smart football player; he understands our offense and I think by moving him to different spots in our offense, he’ll be able to run more routes."  With the additions of rookie WR Tavon Austin and TE Jared Cook, Givens has been lost in the shuffle this offseason.  But he's still capable of posting WR3 numbers in what should be a wide open Rams passing attack this year.

Rams WR Chris Givens has packed on some weight this offseason. "Givens has added muscle and appears to be better prepared for the rigors of playing and playing a lot," according to the team's official website.  Givens checked in at 198 pounds at last year's Combine.  The added bulk is good news as long as it doesn't cost him any speed or quickness.  He turned in a promising 42-698-3 line in his debut season.  He's capable of building on those numbers in 2013 -- despite the additions of Tavon Austin and Jared Cook.  The Rams could be one of the pass-heaviest teams in the league this year.

Rams WR Danny Amendola (heel) graduated to a full practice on Friday.  He's been listed as probable for this weekend's game against the Vikings.  It looks like Amendola is ready to resume his normal duties.  That puts him on the WR3 radar in a plus matchup.  We just updated our Week 15 projections for Rams WRs.

11:29am EST 12/9/12

Rams WR Danny Amendola (heel) is inactive for today's game against the Bills.  He was tested out in pregame warmups but deemed unable to play.  His absence will mean another busy afternoon for WR Chris Givens, who's an intriguing WR3 in fantasy.

Rams WR Danny Amendola (heel) was unable to practice on Wednesday.  At this point, owners should assume he'll miss this weekend's game against the Bills.  Chris Givens would then serve as St. Louis' #1 WR.

11:37am EST 12/2/12

Rams WR Danny Amendola (heel) is inactive for today's game against the 49ers.  It's a smart move by St. Louis to let their best WR rest up and get back to 100%.  Chris Givens and Brandon Gibson will likely start out wide for the Rams.  Givens has WR3 sleeper appeal.

Rams WR Danny Amendola (foot) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Cardinals.  It's a bit surprising considering he returned to last week's game after suffering the injury.  But the foot must has swelled and stiffened on him afterwards.  The team still hasn't provided details on the exact nature of the injury.  Chris Givens and Brandon Gibson figure to serve as St. Louis' top 2 WRs this weekend, but both guys are just low-end WR3s in fantasy.

Rams HC Jeff Fisher confirmed that WR Chris Givens will play this Sunday after last week's suspension.  Fisher wouldn't commit to using Givens in the starting lineup though.  The explosive rookie is worth hanging on to in deeper fantasy leagues, but he should be on benches until we figure out his role with WR Danny Amendola back in the mix.
