The Steelers will reportedly be without ROLB James Harrison for at least a couple of games after Harrison fractured the orbital bone on the right side of his face in Week 4. Harrison's backup, Jason Worilds, is doubtful for Week 5 with a quad strain of his own. HC Mike Tomlin said ILB Lawrence Timmons will slide outside to fill in and leave his starting spot to veteran Larry Foote. Timmons is a rare athlete at LB and will be interesting to watch. Obviously, it's all bad news for the Pittsburgh D on whole. It can't hurt the value of Titans RB Chris Johnson, though, a week after he finally delivered for fantasy owners.

11:50am EDT 9/25/11

As expected, Titans RB Chris Johnson (ribs) is active for today's game against the Broncos.  The injury was never a concern.  Get CJ2K in your lineup.

Titans RB Chris Johnson (ribs) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Broncos.  He sat out on Wednesday but put in full workouts on Thursday and Friday.  The injury was never a concern.  We like CJ2K's odds of busting out of his slump this week.

Titans RB Chris Johnson (ribs) returned to a full practice on Thursday.  The injury was never a concern.  He's a full-go for Sunday's game against the Broncos.

Titans RB Chris Johnson sat out Wednesday's practice with a minor rib injury.  There's been no indication that he's in any danger of missing Sunday's game against the Broncos.  Check back tomorrow for another update, but CJ2K remains a must-start.

Titans play-by-play man Mike Keith says the coaching staff wants to get RB Chris Johnson "as many carries as possible" against the Ravens on Sunday.  “Don’t be surprised if he handles it 25 to 30 times,” Keith said.  Of course, Tennessee will need to keep the game relatively close to keep feeding CJ2K the ball.  Despite the tough matchup, Johnson can't be benched this week.

Titans RB Chris Johnson was one of the bigger disappointments of Week 1.  He carried just 9 times for 24 yards, adding 6 catches for 25 yards.  HC Mike Munchak confirmed after the game that they need to get Johnson more involved going forward.  “He made some plays here and there, but like I said there wasn’t a lot of running room and if you want to get a back going, he’s got to have more than four carries in the first half," Munchak said. "He has to get more touches, but he didn’t get them. He’ll be fine, but I think this was one of those games where we really couldn’t get him involved because we didn’t have a whole lot of plays.”  Tennessee fell behind early in this one, which forced them to air it out more than they would have liked.  CJ2K looked fine to us, making some ankle-breaking cuts and displaying his trademark burst.  Our concern is that the Titans' offensive line failed to open holes against a subpar Jaguars defense.  Let's see how they respond in Week 2.  Johnson should remain in your starting lineup.

ProFootballTalk.com confirms that Titans RB Chris Johnson will start today's game against the Jaguars.  His workload will be determined "on the fly" based on how he's feeling.  We're expecting somewhere between 16-20 total touches.  That's enough to make CJ2K a must-start in a juicy matchup.

All we've heard so far is that Titans RB Chris Johnson will receive a full workload in Sunday's season-opener against the Jaguars.  OC Chris Palmer pulled back the reins a bit on Wednesday.  "Condition-wise, you have to be concerned about [the missed time,]" Palmer said. "The other guys have been going for a month and you have to bring him along and not overload him and make sure you don’t do something to damage him.”  Johnson averaged almost 23 touches per game last season.  We'd expect a few less this Sunday.  18-20 touches sounds about right, and that's still enough to make CJ2K a must-start.

Titans RB Chris Johnson already feels comfortable with the team's new offense.  “I took the playbook home Friday, and I pretty much know the whole thing,’’ Johnson said. “The offense really is not too different. There are a couple of different wrinkles in it, but I pretty much know the whole thing.”  We're not worried about Johnson's comfort level in the offense, or his Week 1 workload.  The only concern is whether or not he's in game shape after missing all of training camp and preseason.  If he can make it through the first couple games without an injury, he should be in the clear.

Titans HC Mike Munchak says he's putting no limit on RB Chris Johnson's Week 1 workload.  We're expecting him to see 20+ touches, especially since backup RB Javon Ringer is banged-up.  CJ2K is a must-start against a sub-par Jaguars defense.

Titans RB Chris Johnson says he'll be ready to carry a full load in Week 1 against the Jaguars.  "I'd like to get all the reps, that's just the type of player I am," Johnson said.  "I want to be the best and when it's time to win I want the team to count on me."  Johnson will make his practice debut today -- just 8 days before the season opener.  Tennessee would be wise to take it easy on him early.  We've seen countless players pull hamstrings or sprain ankles coming off extended holdouts.  But CJ2K remains a must-start as long as he's active.

Titans RB Chris Johnson's holdout is over. He's agreed to a new 4-year, $53.5 million contract. He'll get $30 million guaranteed. It makes him the league's highest-paid RB by a wide margin. Johnson now has 9 days to get ready for the season opener. He'll obviously step right in as the focal point of Tennessee's offense, but he remains an injury-risk after missing all of training camp. We just adjusted our projections for CJ2K. Draft Sharks members can head to our Preseason Projections page right now to check it out.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that contract talks between the Titans and RB Chris Johnson "intensified" on Wednesday.  Negotiations are continuing today.  All signs continue to point to a new deal getting done before Week 1.  Johnson remains a risky fantasy pick, but we'd take him ahead of Texans RB Arian Foster at this point.

NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora reports that the Titans have had “sustained negotiations” with RB Chris Johnson today. La Canfora adds that he “wouldn’t be shocked at all if they had a breakthrough by the weekend.” La Canfora likely has sources on one or both sides that have passed along good news. We continue to believe that Johnson will be signed, sealed, and delivered in time for Week 1.

The Titans and RB Chris Johnson are reportedly still miles apart in contract negotiations.  According to Yahoo's Jason Cole, CJ2K is looking for about $12 million per year with $30 million in guarantees.  The team is offering about $8 million per season with $20 million guaranteed.  That $10 million in guaranteed money figures to be the biggest hurdle to clear.  The two sides are scheduled to meet again today, although we wouldn't expect a deal to get done just yet.  The end of this week seems like a reasonable expectation.  If it's not done by then, we'll be bumping Johnson down our rankings again.

RB Chris Johnson confirmed that nothing has changed in his contract talks with the Titans.  “I feel like I came in and they gave me their points and we gave them our points and we are not seeing eye-to-eye right now," he said.  It sounds like the sides are arguing over about $3.5 million per year.  Johnson's agent is expected to meet with upper-management again within the next couple days, and we remains optimistic that a deal will get done before Week 1.  We're still 17 days away from Tennessee's season opener.  That's an eternity when it comes to these holdouts.

Titans HC Mike Munchak says RB Chris Johnson won't see a full workload when he returns from his holdout.  It's a smart move -- easing CJ2K back in will decrease the chances of an injury.  His big-play ability will continue to make him a must-start if he's on the field.  RB Javon Ringer will pick up some extra touches early in the year, but it probably won't be enough to make him a fantasy starter.

While Titans GM Mike Reinfeldt confirmed that no progress was made in today's contract negotiations with RB Chris Johnson, he did reveal that the two sides plan on continuing talks in the coming days.  "I’m not sure there was any progress made, but I do think it was beneficial to meet," Reinfeldt said. "We were able to discuss several different elements of a potential contract, but there was no agreement on those topics. I do expect to have another conversation with [agent Joel segal] in the next day or so to discuss things further.”  The continued contact is a good sign.  We still expect CJ2K to be on the field for the season opener.

Despite meeting this morning, the Titans and RB Chris Johnson "are not close to a deal and are not expected to be much closer by the end of the day," according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.  The news isn't surprising.  The two sides aren't going to hammer out a new contract in a matter of hours.  It's still a good sign that they're finally meeting face-to-face, and we expect CJ2K to have a new deal in hand before Week 1.
