Colts RB Marlon Mack (hamstring, foot) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Eagles. That'll again leave the backfield to Jordan Wilkins, Nyheim Hines and Christine Michael. With Mack out Week 1, Wilkins tallied 17 touches, Hines 12 and Michael 2. Wilkins is the best non-PPR bet; Hines in PPR. But we'd try to avoid the backfield against a stout Eagles run defense.

Colts RB Marlon Mack (hamstring) is active for today’s game against the Redskins. It’s unclear how Indy will divide work between Mack, Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines. (Christine Michael is inactive.) This is a situation to try to avoid in Week 2 fantasy lineups, but Mack is certainly worth a roster spot if he’s available in your league.

Colts RB Marlon Mack (hamstring) remained sidelined on Wednesday. He's been out since August 9 and is looking like a long shot to play against the Bengals this weekend. That'll leave Indy's backfield to Jordan Wilkins, Christine Michael and Nyheim Hines. It's a situation best avoided in Week 1 fantasy lineups.

ESPN's Mike Wells considers Colts RB Jordan Wilkins the "front-runner" to start Week 1 if RB Marlon Mack (hamstring) isn't ready. Mack has yet to return to practice and seems unlikely to play against the Bengals on Sunday. That'd leave the backfield to Wilkins, Christine Michael and Nyheim Hines. All 3 guys figure to be involved, but it sounds like Wilkins is the favorite to lead the way in touches. It's a situation to avoid in Week 1 if possible, but Wilkins certainly deserves to be rostered in most fantasy leagues.

Colts RBs Jordan Wilkins and Nyheim Hines worked with the 1st-team offense in Saturday night's preseason game against the 49ers. Neither guy was impressive, though. Wilkins carried 4 times for 0 yards and caught 1 pass for 4 yards with QB Andrew Luck and the starters. Hines mustered 3 yards on 3 carries with the 1st-team offense. RB Christine Michael also saw time with the starters and finished with 2 yards on 5 carries. The winner here looks to be Marlon Mack, who remains the favorite for lead RB duties if he can get past his hamstring issue.

The Colts announced Wednesday that they have re-signed RB Christine Michael. The 27-year-old joined Indy last offseason but went on IR after suffering an injury in June minicamp. Michael's notable at the moment only because the Colts backfield looks far from set. Frank Gore is a free agent who doesn't look like he'll return. That leaves Marlon Mack, Robert Turbin, Josh Ferguson and Matt Jones with Michael at the moment. Indy should be adding to that group early in the upcoming NFL Draft.

The Colts placed RB Christine Michael on IR. He lasted just 2 weeks on the active roster. No word on Michael's injury, but at least we won't need to waste any more words on him this year. Robert Turbin and rookie Marlon Mack will battle for backup duties behind Frank Gore.

The Colts have signed RB Christine Michael. It's actually an intriguing landing spot for fantasy football's greatest enigma. Michael joins a backfield with 34-year-old Frank Gore, rookie Marlon Mack and journeyman Robert Turbin. He's simply failed too many times for us to get excited about him again.

The Packers have released RB Christine Michael. The writing was on the wall when Green Bay drafted 3 RBs over the weekend. Michael is still only 26 but has proven to be a fantasy football tease over the past 5 seasons. The Packers also released RB Don Jackson, leaving them with Ty Montgomery and rookies Jamaal Williams, Aaron Jones and Devante Mays.

The Packers added Jamaal Williams to their backfield in the 4th round of the draft. The BYU product sat out all of 2015 but still played 4 seasons and left as the school’s all-time leader in rushing yards (3,901). Williams goes 6’0, 220 pounds but tested as a 36th percentile athlete and doesn’t stand out on film. Green Bay is a nice landing spot, though, where Ty Montgomery and Christine Michael top the depth chart. Williams could earn a big-back role as early as this year.

“I think Ty (Montgomery) definitely has that ability" to become a #1 RB in the NFL, Packers HC Mike McCarthy said this week, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky. Green Bay's actions this offseason have seemed to back up that feeling. We'll see what the team does in the draft, but Montgomery and Christine Michael stand today as the only 2 RBs on the roster. Barring a 1st-round pick at the position, the Packers appear ready to give Montgomery the 1st chance to lead the backfield. If his draft price stays around the bottom of RB2 territory -- or into RB3 range -- then he'll certainly be a fine chance to take in 2017. The versatility and proven pass-catching raise his PPR floor for fantasy football purposes.

The Packers have re-signed RB Christine Michael. We didn't hear of any other teams showing interest in the 26-year-old. Michael appeared in 8 games for Green Bay last season (including the playoffs), mustering just 3.7 yards per carry on 47 totes. The Packers' backfield currently sports just Michael, Ty Montgomery and Don Jackson -- so there's opportunity here. But Michael has mostly disappointed since entering the league in 2013. It seems unwise to bank on that trend changing in 2017.

The forecast for today's Packers-Bears game calls for a temperature of 6 degrees with winds of 10-20 mph. The wind chill could sink as low as -13. That's cold. Expect more running than usual from both sides. We're still expecting Green Bay's passing game to be effective. WR Alshon Jeffery is the only piece of the Bears' passing game that should be in fantasy lineups.

Packers RB James Starks (concussion) has been downgraded to out for today's game against the Bears. He couldn't clear the protocol after sustaining a concussion in a car accident on Monday. Ty Montgomery and Christine Michael will handle backfield duties today. Montgomery is the better fantasy play but is just a low-end starter -- whether you use him at RB or WR.

Packers RB Christine Michael led the team with 10 carries in Sunday's win over the Seahawks. He managed just 36 yards, though, and watched Ty Montgomery plunge in the 1-yard TD in the 2nd quarter. Michael also didn't draw any targets. He'll need to do more to enter fantasy consideration, and we're a little low on time for that to happen this season.

RB Christine Michael is expected to make his Packers debut against the Eagles next Monday night, according to HC Mike McCarthy. "We've had enough time now to get him acclimated," McCarthy said. "We'll definitely look to have him part of the offense." We'd be surprised if Michael saw more than a handful of touches, so he shouldn't be in Week 12 fantasy lineups. But he does put a slight dent in RB James Starks' outlook.

The Packers have claimed RB Christine Michael. It's one of the better possible landing spots for the Seahawks castoff: a high-scoring offense without a sure thing at RB. Michael is a long shot to come into fantasy value this season. But if he makes a good impression with his new squad, he could earn a role in 2017. RB Eddie Lacy is set to hit free agency this offseason and isn't a good bet to return to Green Bay.
