Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman practiced in full Friday and will start Sunday against the Raiders, according to The Denver Post. RB C.J. Anderson, meanwhile, missed another practice with his injured ankle and is officially questionable. We'd try hard not to use him in Week 14 even if he's active for the game. Juwan Thompson will be a deep fantasy option if Anderson's out.

Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) is listed as questionable despite not practicing all week. HC Gary Kubiak said Friday that there’s a “chance” Anderson “could dress.” That doesn’t sound like he’ll play much of a role. Anderson shouldn’t be in Week 14 fantasy lineups. RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) is also listed as questionable, but Kubiak confirmed that he’ll start Sunday’s game against the Raiders. Juwan Thompson figures to serve as the #2 RB.

Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (foot) returned to practice on Thursday after sitting out Wednesday's workout.  He never left last week's game and should be available for this weekend's contest against the Raiders.  RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) remained sidelined on Thursday and looks extremely iffy for this weekend.  His absence would push Juwan Thompson into the #2 RB role.

Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman did not practice on Wednesday due to a foot issue.  Insider Troy Renck labeled it a "sore foot," and HC Gary Kubiak said he's "hopeful" Hillman will be able to play against the Raiders this weekend.  RB C.J. Anderson is also iffy for Week 14 with a bum ankle.  If Denver's top 2 backs are unable to play, Juwan Thompson would draw the start.  He's worth stashing in fantasy leagues.

Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday.  His injury isn't believed to be serious, but he's certainly not a lock to be ready for this weekend's game against the Raiders.  Anderson's absence would leave Denver's backfield to Ronnie Hillman and Juwan Thompson.

Broncos HC Gary Kubiak said Monday that RB C.J. Anderson might have been able to play through the ankle injury he suffered Sunday if the team had needed him. "He took a pretty good blow to his ankle and he's had some ankle issues in the past," Kubiak told The Denver Post. "I think probably had we not had the other two, he could have tried to fight through some of it. He's very sore (Monday), so I would say he's day-to-day as we go through the week." We'll see how things go this week. Of course, the fact that Denver has "the other two" -- Ronnie Hillman and Juwan Thompson -- might also allow the Broncos to limit Anderson's touches against the Raiders next Sunday, even if he's ready to play. We'll monitor the situation this week.

Broncos RB C.J. Anderson injured his ankle near the end of the 2nd quarter and is out for the rest of the Sunday's game against the Chargers.  He finishes with 7 carries for 42 yards and 1 catch for 12 more.  Ronnie Hillman will serve as Denver's feature back the rest of the way.

Broncos RB Ronnie Hillman (thigh) will play against the Colts today, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.  Hillman was never in danger of missing this one, and we're not expecting the thigh to be an issue.  HC Gary Kubiak even said Friday that Hillman will start today's game.  He'll still cede touches to C.J. Anderson, but Hillman is a fine RB2 in a plus matchup.

The Broncos will start RB Ronnie Hillman against the Packers tonight, according to Mike Klis of 9News in Denver. That only solidifies Hillman's role, which HC Gary Kubiak confirmed this week will be larger than C.J. Anderson's. That makes Hillman easier to trust in a positive matchup for his rushing outlook. Green Bay has played the pass much tougher than the run so far, while Peyton Manning has struggled.

Broncos RB C.J. Anderson told The Denver Post, in apparently vague terms, Thursday that injuries have hampered his early-season play. “I wasn’t as healthy as I thought,” Anderson said. “I had some old injuries that bothered (me), I can’t really say. I didn’t know it was that serious until I felt it.” He dealt with toe and ankle injuries near the start of the season but hasn't appeared on the injury report since Week 3. Obviously, none of us can know how much any physical issue was affecting him. We'll be encouraged if Anderson comes off the Week 7 bye and looks better against the Packers on Sunday. But a terrible start that finds him averaging only 2.7 yards per rush and ceding the lead job to Ronnie Hillman has us in wait-and-see mode rather than optimistic. If you own Anderson right now, you might as well hold him at least through the weekend if you can.

Broncos HC Gary Kubiak said in a Monday radio appearance that RB Ronnie Hillman "deserves more touches.  He's got the hot hand right now."  Hillman busted off a 72-yarder as part of a 103-yard effort in Sunday's win over the Vikings.  None of RB C.J. Anderson's 43 carries have gone for more than 14 yards.  And he's yet to top 43 yards in a game.  Look for Hillman to lead the backfield in touches in a plus Week 5 matchup against the Raiders.

Broncos HC Gary Kubiak indicated Monday that he's sticking with RB C.J. Anderson to lead his backfield -- at least for now. "We have to keep C.J. on the field. C.J. has been coming off the field the past three games because he's been nicked up," Kubiak said, per The Denver Post. "Things are going on, and we need to keep him on the field consistently." It's good that the coach didn't seem to blame Anderson for coming off the field, but rather pointed to the injuries. Of course, Anderson will probably see his role start to shrink if he can't stay on the field and start producing. This Sunday against Minnesota could prove critical. The Vikings seemed to play the run solidly the past 2 weeks after 49ers RB Carlos Hyde ran over them in the opener.

Broncos RB C.J. Anderson suffered a head injury in the 1st quarter of Sunday night's game against the Lions.  He headed back to the locker room to be evaluated for a concussion and is questionable to return.  Ronnie Hillman will serve as Denver's lead back while Anderson is out.

Update: Anderson has been cleared and is probable to return.

Broncos RB C.J. Anderson described his toe injury as a "nagging" thing.  "I'm impatient, but it's going to be one of those nagging things for the season that I take care of," he said.  We've seen toe injuries derail RBs' seasons.  The good news is that Anderson has been a full participant in practice this week.  He should be healthier for Sunday's game against the Lions than he was last week.

Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (ankle, toe) is active for tonight's matchup with Kansas City. Playing at less than 100% on a short week, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Anderson evenly split touches with Ronnie Hillman.

Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (toe) is listed as questionable for Thursday night's game against the Chiefs.  He put in limited practices on Tuesday and Wednesday, and we've seen nothing to suggest that he won't play tomorrow.  We'll know his official status by 7 pm ET on Thursday.

Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (toe) returned to practice on Tuesday.  It puts him on track to play against the Chiefs on Thursday night.  Anderson is coming off a disappointing opener and is now banged-up and playing on short rest.  He's more of a RB2 for Week 2.

Broncos RB C.J. Anderson (toe) was held out of Monday's practice.  That's not a major surprise considering Denver was just a day removed from its opener.  Anderson is tentatively expected to be ready for Thursday night's game against the Chiefs, but the situation will get shakier if he's not able to practice later today.  WR Demaryius Thomas (hand) was a full-go on Monday

Broncos RB C.J. Anderson's toe injury isn't serious, according to HC Gary Kubiak.  Anderson is expected to practice this week, which means he should play against the Chiefs on Thursday night.  After a rough opener that saw him split carries with Ronnie Hillman and total just 29 yards on 12 carries, though, consider him more of a RB2 on short rest.

Broncos RB C.J. Anderson said after Sunday's win that he's dealing with a sprained toe.  It's unclear when the injury occurred because he was still on the field for Denver's final possession.  Anderson struggled to just 29 yards on 12 carries, though.  And toe injuries can be tough for RBs to effectively play through.  It's a situation to keep a close eye on, especially with the Broncos playing Thursday night against the Chiefs.
