The Colts expect to get FS Malik Hooker on the game field Saturday for the 1st time since he suffered an ACL tear last October. According to the team website, HC Frank Reich said Hooker had a "good solid week last week" in practice. A healthy Hooker is likely the FS starter. Clayton Geathers filled in against the Ravens on Monday. In the 1st preseason game -- with Geathers also out -- it was T.J. Moore. Matthias Farley has been manning the SS spot. Hooker, a 1st-round pick in 2017, nabbed 7 INTs in his final season at Ohio State and would help the defense's turnover potential.

The Colts expect S Clayton Geathers to make his 2017 debut Sunday against the Titans, according to ESPN's Mike Wells. The team reportedly plans to have the former starter on a "pitch count" after a little more than a year off for a neck injury he suffered last year against Tennessee. But we wouldn't be surprised if Geathers works his way back toward starter-level snaps soon. HC Chuck Pagano said Geathers still "knows the defense inside and out" and that he has looked good in practice in recent weeks.

Green enters the mix.

He was reportedly set to see a neurologist Friday afternoon in the final step of the concussion protocol but is clearly not ready to play between the 2 injuries. We'll see about his status next week. Mathis hasn't been an IDP option this season anyway, and the Colts hold little appeal as a fantasy team D.

The Colts defense got good news and very bad news on Monday. The good: DE Henry Anderson got activated from the PUP and will rejoin the team for the 1st time since suffering an ACL tear to end his rookie season. The bad: Top CB Vontae Davis is expected to miss at least the 1st month of the season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Davis suffered a medial ankle sprain in practice last Thursday and has ligament damage. We'll see whether that will cost him more than the 1st 4 games. Indy signed free-agent CB Antonio Cromartie on Monday to fill in. Cromartie has had terrific seasons in the league, but it's also telling that he sat available this far into the offseason. We'll see how he looks. The secondary has also been operating without presumed starting FS Clayton Geathers throughout camp (foot) but expects to get him back at practice this week. All told, there's not much to get excited about in an already shaky defense.

According to multiple reports, Colts HC Chuck Pagano on Monday called S Mike Adams day-to-day with his ankle injury. That means we'll need to watch the practice reports this week to see if Adams can return for a Sunday night trip to Pittsburgh. If he doesn't, then rookie Clayton Geathers would start again and be a solid bet for tackles against a busy Pittsburgh offense.
