Eagles RB Darren Sproles (hamstring) is out for Thursday night's game against the Giants. He remained sidelined in practice all week, although HC Doug Pederson said Wednesday that Sproles is getting close to a return. Corey Clement and Wendell Smallwood figure to share the majority of Philly's backfield work on Thursday, with rookie Josh Adams potentially mixing in.

Eagles RB Corey Clement (quad) was listed as a full participant in Monday's practice, putting him on track to return for Thursday night's game against the Giants. It's especially notable with RB Jay Ajayi out for the year. Clement was running clearly ahead of RB Wendell Smallwood over the season's first 3 weeks. We'll see what the split looks like on Thursday. Consider both Clement and Smallwood risk/reward RB3s for Week 6. RB Darren Sproles (hamstring) remained sidelined on Monday.

Eagles RB Jay Ajayi suffered an ACL tear in Sunday’s loss to the Vikings and will miss the rest of the season. That takes the carry leader out of a backfield that has started slowly. Healthy returns by Corey Clement and Darren Sproles wold help absorb touches, but Wendell Smallwood has als taken advantage of recent injuries to others to look like a player who will continue to deserve work. We’ll see hit the touches get distributed as the remaining group get healthy. The one thing we’ve been able to count on so far has been HC Doug Pederson spreading the work around. Clement, Sproles and Smallwood are all worth owning to varying degrees right now

Eagles RBs Corey Clement (quad) and Darren Sproles (hamstring) both missed practice all week. Sproles has already been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Vikings. Clement is listed as questionable, but we'd be surprised if he played. He shouldn't be in your Week 5 fantasy plans.

Eagles RB Darren Sproles (hamstring) is out for Sunday’s game against the Titans. He didn’t practice all week and has no timetable for return. RB Corey Clement (quad) is listed as questionable after being added to the injury report on Thursday. If he can’t play this weekend, Wendell Smallwood and Josh Adams would serve as Philly’s #2 and #3 RBs.

Eagles RB Jay Ajayi (back) remained sidelined for Wednesday's practice. We'll continue to monitor his status, but fantasy owners shouldn't be banking on him playing this weekend. RB Darren Sproles (hamstring) also missed practice on Wednesday. With those guys sidelined last week, RB Corey Clement played 55% of the offensive snaps and handled 19 touches. RB Wendell Smallwood played 35% of the snaps and totaled 13 touches.

Eagles RBs Jay Ajayi (back) and Darren Sproles (hamstring) have been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Colts. Neither guy practiced all week, so consider both questionable for Week 4.

Eagles RBs Jay Ajayi (back) and Darren Sproles (hamstring) missed practice again on Thursday. Both guys are now looking extremely iffy for this weekend's game against the Colts. That'd leave Philly with RBs Corey Clement, Wendell Smallwood and Josh Adams. Clement would be in the RB2 mix in that case. Check back tomorrow for another update on the situation.

Eagles RBs Jay Ajayi (back) and Darren Sproles (hamstring) did not practice on Wednesday. HC Doug Pederson labeled Ajayi "day to day" prior to practice, so it sounds like he has a shot to play against the Colts this weekend. We'll have another update tomorrow. Corey Clement, Wendell Smallwood and rookie Josh Adams and Philly's healthy RBs right now.

Eagles QB Carson Wentz (knee) has been medically cleared and will start Sunday's game against the Colts, the team announced Monday. Philly has been extremely cautious bringing Wentz back from last December's torn ACL and LCL in his left knee. He's reportedly been throwing well in practice, but his mobility inside and out of the pocket remains a question. Wentz will be a risk/reward Week 3 fantasy play in a plus matchup. His return is excellent news for the rest of the Eagles' skill-position guys. QB Nick Foles totaled 451 yards with just 1 TD and 1 INT over the first 2 weeks.

Eagles RB Darren Sproles (hamstring) has been ruled out for this weekend's game against the Bucs. He reportedly injured that hammy on Wednesday and didn't practice on Thursday or Friday. His status beyond Week 2 is uncertain. Sproles played 40% of Philly's offensive snaps and handled 9 touches in the opener, so this is an impactful loss. Look for both Jay Ajayi and Corey Clement to pick up a few extra touches on Sunday.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Eagles WR Alshon Jeffery (shoulder) is expected to miss "at least" the first 2 games of the season. Schefter adds that Jeffery won't land on the reserve/PUP list, which means the Eagles expect him back before Week 7. But it might be October before we can trust him in fantasy lineups. We just moved Jeffery further down the WR rankings. While he's sidelined, Nelson Agholor will serve as Philly's #1 WR with Mike Wallace as the #2. TE Zach Ertz and the RBs should also garner a few extra targets.

Eagles RB Darren Sproles admits that he wasn't sure how he'd return from last year's torn ACL. But now that he's through the rehab process, he's confident heading into 2018. "Once I started rehabbing and running again I could tell I was good and ready for one more healthy year," Sproles said. We're curious to see what the 35-year-old looks like when the pads go on in training camp and the preseason. But he was playing a major role before going down last year, playing 84 snaps, carrying 12 times and hauling in 7 of 12 targets in 2 games. Sproles is well worth a look at the tail end of PPR drafts.

One of the biggest Eagles questions facing fantasy owners is just how much work we can expect RB Jay Ajayi to get. Well, he spoke to that a bit this week. “I’m excited,” Ajayi said Tuesday, per USA Today's Eagles Wire. “Obviously things have gotten a little bit shaken up in our room, and I’m excited to get into that lead role, do what’s needed of me and just go ball." Ajayi averaged just 11.2 carries per game over 10 contests (playoffs included) after joining the Eagles last year. But that climbed to 13.8 over the final 6 games, including 4 weeks of 14+ rushes. Philly coaches haven't specifically addressed backfield roles yet, and the backfield remains crowded. Corey Clement should continue to see a significant role. And Darren Sproles -- who opened last year as the team leader in RB snaps before a Week 3 injury -- returns. Matt Jones, Donnel Pumphrey, Wendell Smallwood and undrafted free agent Josh Adams are also fighting for roles. The "lead role" Ajayi refers to doesn't necessarily mean workhorse-level touches, and we're not projecting that for him. But a lead job in what should again rank among the league's top offenses will undoubtedly carry fantasy upside. Ajayi could particularly bring a high TD ceiling, given his size vs. the remaining backfield competition. He's a decent value at current ADP, and we'll continue to monitor the Eagles backfield as we move into summer.

NJ.com's Zack Rosenblatt believes RB Corey Clement could push his way into the "1b" role alongside Jay Ajayi in the Eagles' backfield. "He might push his way up into co-starter territory with Ajayi and it wouldn't be surprising if, on some weeks, Clement leads the team in snaps," Rosenblatt writes. "With Aijayi set to be a free agent in 2019, Clement is the future of Eagles' backfield." As an undrafted rookie last year, Clement averaged 4.3 yards per carry on 74 attempts and posted a 10-123-2 receiving line during the regular season. He caught another 10 balls in 3 playoffs games, including a big 4-100-1 line in the Super Bowl. The Eagles' backfield is certainly looking like a committee attack, especially after they re-signed Darren Sproles over the weekend. Clement as the 52nd RB off the board looks like the better early value pick vs. Ajayi as the 22nd RB.

The Eagles announced Saturday that they have agree to terms with RB Darren Sproles for 2018. Sproles missed the final 13 games last season after suffering a broken arm and torn ACL on the same play. He'll rejoin a backfield that now includes Jay Ajayi, Corey Clement, Wendell Smallwood and Donnell Pumphrey. The 2017 rookie, Pumphrey, looks like the worst bet to stick on the 2018 roster after a wholly disappointing debut. Smallwood's roster spot could be challenged as well, given that Philly also added RB Josh Adams as an undrafted free agent. Sproles' return also challenges the target availability for Clement. Overall, the Eagles backfield looks like a committee again, with Ajayi headed for primary ball-carrying duties, Sproles the best bet to lead the group in targets and the rest of the touches likely spread around liberally.
