David Blough Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury announced Wednesday that QB David Blough will start the season finale at San Francisco. Blough managed just 222 passing yards (on 40 attempts) and 7 rushing yards against a much weaker Falcons defense last week. And he'll once again go without WR DeAndre Hopkins (knee) this week, so it's tough to expect much.

Cardinals QB Colt McCoy had his concussion symptoms return Friday and will not play Sunday against the Falcons, HC Kliff Kingsbury told reporters. The team will instead turn to QB David Blough for the Week 17 start. The former Lions backup opened this season on the Vikings practice squad, but Arizona plucked him for its active roster on Dec. 14. The Cardinals now clearly believe him to be the better option than Trace McSorley. Blough won't be a meaningful fantasy option, and he's likely a downgrade vs. McCoy for Arizona pass-catchers -- if only because he hasn't been with the team as long. Of course, we'll also see about the status of WR DeAndre Hopkins, who is now dealing with knee trouble.

Lions QB Matt Stafford has been placed on the COVID list. It's unclear if he tested positive himself or was in close contact with someone who did. It's also unclear if Stafford has a chance to get cleared in time for Sunday's game against the Vikings. Fantasy owners should be making other plans for now. If Stafford is out this weekend, Detroit would turn to either Chase Daniel or David Blough.

The Lions have placed QB Matt Stafford (back) on IR. It never made any sense for them to bring him back in what's become a lost season. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported in November that the tiny fractures in Stafford's back are "potentially chronic" and "could be an issue for him for years to come," so his recovery will be worth monitoring closely this offseason. QB David Blough will close out this year as Detroit's starter.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that the Lions are placing QB Jeff Driskel on IR with his hamstring injury. That keeps David Blough in place as the fill-in for as long as Matthew Stafford remains out with his back injury. Detroit has also signed QB Kyle Sloter off Arizona's practice squad.

Lions QB David Blough will start Thursday's game against the Bears, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. QB Jeff Driskel is dealing with a hamstring injury, although he's reportedly healthy enough to serve as the backup. Blough is an undrafted rookie who completed 61% of his passes and averaged 6.8 yards per attempt at Purdue. He posted a 58% completion rate and 6.3 yards per attempt this preseason. Blough figures to be a downgrade even from Driskel. WRs Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones are both extremely shaky fantasy plays on Thanksgiving.
