According to NFL.com, Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) will be inactive today against Tampa Bay.  Starting in his place will be Jonathan Stewart, who is nursing an achilles injury of his own.  Stewart makes for a sneaky RB2 start this week.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams left Sunday's game with a sprained ankle.  His return is questionable.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams sat out of practice on Wednesday to rest his injured knee. HC John Fox says that the injury isn’t severe and that Williams just needed a day off.  He hasn’t been limping and has been playing well in recent weeks. He's listed as "questionable" for tomorrow's game against Miami, but we fully expect him to play.  Check back tomorrow to make sure he's active though.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams will play against Miami tonight.  This was expected considering HC John Fox said that Williams sat out Wednesday's practice for rest purposes only.  Check back tonight for the official inactive list, but Williams is a top-10 RB option as long as he plays.

As expected, Panthers RBs DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart are both active for tonight's game against the Dolphins.  Miami is tough against the run and struggles against the pass, so Carolina may use the air attack more than they usually do.  But Williams is still a rock-solid RB1 while Stewart is a nice RB2.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams is dealing with a minor knee issue.  "He kind of tweaked his knee," HC John Fox said. "It's something we'll evaluate day-to-day."  Williams missed Wednesday's practice.  Keep an eye on him throughout the week, but we expect him to play Sunday against the Falcons.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (knee) returned to a limited practice on Thursday after sitting out on Wednesday.  There's no reason to believe he won't start this Sunday against the Falcons.  He's a must-start.

After returning to practice on Thursday, Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (knee) sat out again on Friday.  He's officially listed as "questionable" for Sunday's game against the Falcons.  Beat writer Charles Chandler reports that Williams "doesn't appear to be walking with a limp."  He'll be a game-time decision, but we expect him to play.  Check back on Sunday morning to be sure though.

According to ESPN's John Clayton, Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (knee) looked good in warmups and is expected to be active for today's game against the Falcons.  We'll find out for sure in about an hour.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams is officially active for today's game against the Falcons.  His workload may be limited, but he's almost impossible to bench.

The 2008 FedEx Ground & Air Players of the Year nominees are up for voting: Ground - Adrian Peterson, Michael Turner, DeAngelo Williams. Air - Drew Brees, Peyton Manning, Kurt Warner. For more info click on the Blogs above.

DeAngelo Williams scored 4 times vs. the Giants, carrying the ball 24 times for 108 yards. DeAngelo now has a NFL-high 20 TDs after 15 games. NBC reports Williams' 6 different scoring runs from 30+ yards this year is one behind Jim Brown for the all-time record. He also became the first Giants opponent to rush for 4 TDs since Emmitt Smith did it in 1995. D.W. has 16 TDs in his last 8 games (!) and is rewriting franchise records left and right. He also has 1,337 rushing yards on the season... pretty amazing because he only averages 16.5 carries per game. DeAngelo has taken over the #1 fantasy RB spot with 1 game left.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams carried 12 times for 88 yards & 1 TD in the win over Denver. He broke a 56-yard TD early in the 3rd quarter then gave way to Jonathan Stewart for almost the entire 2nd half. We thought the Panthers were just preserving DeAngelo as playoff-time nears, but it turns out he was feeling "a little fuzzy" from a minor head injury. “I have no idea what happened,” Williams said. “They said I was dinged up, or something of that nature, but I was ready to go. The doctors are going to be cautious." Williams did go back in for 1 carry so hopefully he'll be OK. Carolina can't win without the NFL's touchdown leader, and neither can fantasy teams in week 16. He's currently the #3 fantasy RB in PPR leagues. For more on D.W. check out the JUMbotron entry on the Blogs.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams is not on the Wednesday injury list at NFLMedia.com. Whatever his head injury was last week is a non-issue. Look for D.W. to break some runs against the Giants. Over the last 3 games only 8 defenses have given up more total yards to RBs.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams carried 21 times for 72 yards & 4 TDs in the 35-31 win over Green Bay. He also added 3 catches for 14 yards. All of his scores were from 1 yard out. Williams' 4 TDs set a new single-game franchise record. He's also scored in 5 straight games and has 11 rushing TDs (and 2 more via the pass). The team record is 12 rushing TDs set by Stephen Davis in 2005. In most fantasy leagues DeAngelo is now the 5th or 6th best fantasy RB, maybe higher if some of his long-distance TDs have triggered bonuses. DeAngelo has 955 rushing yards with 4 games to go, and his 4.95 average is 2nd highest among RBs with at least 100 attempts. He has a tough matchup vs. Tampa this week on Monday night, but benching this guy is not recommended.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams has scored 13 TDs in the last 8 games and has crashed the fantasy top-6 RBs in all scoring systems. They're putting the football in his hands and he's pumping out numbers. Williams averages 19 touches in this torrid 8-game stretch and has churned out 5 100-yard games. He's scored from in close (7 from inside 5 yards) and busted long ones (4 from 25+ yards) too. And the Panthers are winning when DeAngelo is busy. We saw a glimpse of this last year. He only had 10+ carries in 7 games but in those games Williams rushed for 554 yards & 4 TDs, and Carolina went 6-1. "When we've called on him, he's come up," said HC John Fox. "He's done a tremendous job for us and that's why we're fortunate enough to be sitting at 9-3." Williams is on pace for 1,300 rushing yards and over 15 total TDs. Amazing. His matchup vs. Tampa Bay on Monday night is not ideal - but you'd have to be really stacked at RB to bench him.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams is coming off a 17-carry, 108-yard day vs. the 10th-ranked Cardinals defense. He scored his 5th TD too. Williams is 10th in rushing with 522 yards and is on pace for a 1,000-yard season. Clearly, the time-share with Jonathan Stewart keeps DeAngelo fresh and deadly.  He's broken a 15+ yard play in 7 of his last 81 touches, run or catch. In this age of committee backfields you have to recognize a ground-committed offense providing enough touches for two backs to produce. You're usually not going to get more than 15-17 carries from Williams, but he's healthy and productive. RT Jeff Otah (ankle) is coming back after this week's bye. Carolina draws Oakland, Detroit, Atlanta, and Green Bay in their next 4 games. We moved DeAngelo into the top-20 Rest of Way running backs.

The Weekly Rankings are posted under the MVP Weekly Report tab above.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams handled a season-high 21 touches for a combined 148 total yards and 3 TDs vs. Kansas City. His 123 rushing yards was a career high. Williams was bouncing everything outside and the Chiefs had no answer for his cutbacks. Williams credits the crowd at Bank of America Stadium for firing him up. "They were loud," Williams said. "It makes us play harder. When I was sitting on the bench, I was like, 'Oh my God, they're loud.'" Jonathan Stewart also had a season-high 19 carries (for 72 yards) but it was the D.W. Show in week 5. It's unlikely that Williams is on your league's waiver wire but if he is, he's obviously a must-grab. There's enough carries in this offense for both backs to make an impact. Williams and rookie Jonathan Stewart alternated series in the first half with the first team offense.  Both exploded.  Williams rolled up 101 yards on 9 carries -- including a 60-yard burst for a TD.  Stewart finished with 100 yards on 10 carries, with a nifty 50-yard TD.  Can you say RBBC?!
