DeAngelo Williams Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

Panthers HC Ron Rivera said RB DeAngelo Williams looked good in practice on Tuesday and will start Thursday night's game against the Saints.  It's surprising and disappointing after RB Jonathan Stewart looked good the past 2 weeks.  The 31-year-old Williams offers much less at this point of his career.  We're still expecting Williams and Stewart to split backfield duties against New Orleans, but J-Stew now looks like more of a RB3 or flex for Week 9.  Same goes for Williams.

Panthers HC Ron Rivera expects RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) to return for Thursday night's game against the Saints.  He's been sidelined since suffering a high-ankle sprain in Week 4.  RB Jonathan Stewart has looked good the past 2 weeks and should remain Carolina's lead back against New Orleans.  Williams' return lowers Stewart's fantasy ceiling, but he's still a RB3 or flex option in the plus matchup.  We'd avoid Williams in his 1st game back.

Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (knee) is active for today’s game against the Packers. He has a good chance to see 15+ touches, putting him on the RB3/flex radar. RBs DeAngelo Williams (ankle) and Fozzy Whittaker (quad) are inactive. RBs Darrin Reaves (questionable, calf) and Chris Ogbonnaya will play behind Stewart.

Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (knee) put in a full week of practice and is probable for Sunday’s game against the Packers. He’s a strong bet to lead the backfield in touches, especially with RB DeAngelo Williams (ankle) out, RB Fozzy Whittaker (quad) doubtful and RB Darrin Reaves (calf) questionable. It makes Stewart a viable RB3 or flex against a Packers defense ranked 22nd in fantasy points allowed to RBs.

Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (knee) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Bengals. He got in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. We’ll find out his official status by noon ET on Sunday, but J-Stew isn’t a recommended fantasy play against Cincinnati’s stout run defense. RB DeAngelo Williams remains out with his high-ankle sprain.

Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (knee) is doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Bears. With DeAngelo Williams (ankle) and Mike Tolbert (leg) out, Darrin Reaves, Fozzy Whittaker and Chris Ogbonnaya will patrol the backfield. Reaves is the best bet for touches, but this could turn into a 3-man committee. We’d avoid the situation in fantasy if possible.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams told fans at a charity event on Monday night that he's dealing with a high-ankle sprain.  That was our guess when a report this morning called Williams "week-to-week."  High-ankle sprains usually cost players 4+ weeks.  Carolina's bye doesn't come until Week 12.  Williams is droppable in shallower leagues.  We'll see if Jonathan Stewart (knee) is able to return this week.  If not, the Panthers will roll with RBs Darrin Reaves, Fozzy Whittaker and Chris Ogbonnaya.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams' (ankle) Week 5 status is in "serious doubt," according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.  Williams is dealing with a sprained ankle and is considered "week-to-week."  It's possible that he has a high-ankle sprain.  RB Jonathan Stewart (knee) returned to practice this past Friday but didn't sound particularly close to playing against the Ravens.  If both Stewart and Williams are out this weekend, RB Darrin Reaves would sit atop the depth chart.  The undrafted rookie managed just 26 yards on 11 carries on Sunday but would have a much easier matchup against the Bears in Week 5.  Reaves is worth adding in deeper leagues as we monitor Williams and Stewart's status.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams appeared to injure his ankle in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game against the Ravens.  He was worked on by the training staff on the sidelines but has yet to re-enter the game.  RB Darrin Reaves is in for Carolina.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (quad) is active for today’s game against the Ravens. Backfield mate Jonathan Stewart (knee) is inactive. Williams is looking at 15+ touches, putting him on the low-end RB2 radar.

Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart (knee) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game against the Ravens.  He returned to practice on Friday, but HC Ron Rivera admitted that Stewart "didn't have what he needed as a RB."  Beat writer Joe Person calls Stewart a "long shot" to play on Sunday.  Look for DeAngelo Williams (quad, probable) to operate as Carolina's feature back.

Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart considers himself "week-to-week" with the sprained knee he suffered on Sunday night.  He's never been a particularly fast healer, so we're expecting him to miss at least a couple games.  RB Mike Tolbert (leg) was placed on the short-term IR, so he's out at least Week 13.  RB DeAngelo Williams, if he can get over his own quad injury, is going to dominate carries in the Panthers backfield for the foreseeable future.

Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart has been diagnosed with a "severely" sprained knee, according to HC Ron Rivera.  He'll be re-assessed on Friday.  We'll look for a timetable then, but Stewart obviously won't play against the Ravens this weekend.  RB Mike Tolbert will also miss that game -- and likely a bunch more -- after suffering a hairline fracture on Sunday night.  That opens the door for DeAngelo Williams to assume a feature-back role if he can get over his quad injury.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (quad) is inactive for tonight's game against the Steelers.  It's surprising after the team was confident all week that he'd be available.  It leaves Jonathan Stewart as the lead back in a plus matchup.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (thigh) is listed as questionable for Week 3 after putting in a limited practice on Friday. Most signs point to him playing against the Steelers on Sunday night, but that late start time makes him a riskier fantasy play. Williams is best off on fantasy benches unless you have a viable late-game alternative.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (quad) remained out of Thursday's practice.  HC Ron Rivera said Williams did "a lot of work on the side" and isn't concerned about his Week 3 status.  We'd obviously feel a lot better about his fantasy outlook if he's able to practice on Friday.  Williams has a plus matchup against the Steelers on Sunday night.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (quad) was held out of practice on Wednesday.  The team is expecting him back for Sunday night's game against the Steelers, but this isn't a good start to his week.  RB Mike Tolbert (chest) was also sidelined on Wednesday.  RB Jonathan Stewart would be looking at a heavy workload if both those guys are out this weekend.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (quad) is expected back for Sunday night's game against the Steelers.  Williams led Carolina with 72 yards on 14 carries in the opener.  The ground game struggled without him this past weekend.  Look for Williams to step back in as the lead runner this Sunday.  That'll make him a RB3 or flex option against a struggling Steelers defense.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (quad) is inactive for today’s game against the Lions. Jonathan Stewart will serve as the lead back but is just a RB3 or flex in the tough matchup.

Panthers RB DeAngelo Williams (quad) is not expected to play against the Lions today, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.  That's not a surprise after he was unable to practice on Thursday or Friday.  Jonathan Stewart will serve as Carolina's lead back and is likely looking at 15 or so touches.  The matchup is tough, though, so consider J-Stew just a RB3 or flex.  He'll be spelled by RBs Mike Tolbert and Fozzy Whitaker.
