The Giants have ruled LB Devon Kennard out for Sunday's game against the Niners because of the hamstring game that removed him early from the win at Buffalo. Kennard has played quite well early this season, displaying coverage ability to go with the pass-rushing that he delivered as a rookie. He's worth hanging on to in IDP league's of decent depth. DEs Robert Ayers (hamstring) and George Selvie (calf) will also miss the game, leaving more playing time available to Kerry Wynn, Owa Odighizuwa and Damontre Moore. Wynn looks like the only usable IDP for most fantasy football leagues.
The Cowboys traded up 13 spots in the 2nd round of the NFL draft to pick Boise State DE Demarcus Lawrence. The former Bronco racked up 20 sacks and 34 total tackles for loss over the past 2 college seasons. He could challenge for an immediate starting job with the Cowboys, who released left DE DeMarcus Ware this spring. DE Anthony Spencer re-signed as a free agent, re-joining a group that includes George Selvie and journeyman Jeremy Mincey in the competition for snaps.
The Lions will face the Cowboys on Sunday without RT Corey Hilliard (knee). In addition, LT Riley Reiff (hamstring) and replacement RT Jason Fox (knee) are questionable. The situation at least helps the IDP outlook for Cowboys left DE George Selvie. He'll need the help. Lions QB Matthew Stafford has been among the toughest QBs in the league to sack this season.
Cowboys DE George Selvie returned to practice Friday after missing the first 2 days with a concussion. Coaches expect him to play Sunday against the Broncos. Selvie's not a strong IDP option against Peyton Manning, but he's been a revelation in Anthony Spencer's place and is worth owning in most fantasy football leagues of worthwhile depth.
