Panthers Edge Brian Burns (wrist), DT Gerald McCoy (knee) and S Eric Reid (ankle) are active for today's game against the Jaguars. Burns carries the most IDP intrigue among the 3.

Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy (calf) is active for today's game against the Panthers. He missed the past 2 games with the injury but returns to boost the Tampa run defense for Week 9.

The Buccaneers have ruled DT Gerald McCoy (calf) and DE Vinny Curry (ankle) out for Sunday's game against the Browns. Neither is a big IDP factor, but the absences of both starters can only help an already-bright fantasy outlook for Browns QB Baker Mayfield.

Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy appears to have avoided the biceps tear he thought he suffered in the Week 14 loss to the Lions. According to the team website, he is not scheduled for surgery and says he might play Monday night against the Falcons. McCoy has proved tough while playing through multiple injuries throughout his career. He didn't practice Thursday, so we'll see what the rest of the week holds. He'll be tough to like in IDP lineups even if active against a solid Atlanta O-line. But IDP owners can at least hold off on cutting him for now (in many cases). Elsewhere on the Bucs defense, OLB Lavonte David also missed practice Thursday with a hamstring issue. We'll keep an eye on that situation, but he played 100% of the snaps against Detroit and delivered a season-high 13 tackles.

Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy believes he suffered a torn biceps in Sunday's loss to the Lions, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. McCoy is familiar with the injury, having suffered it twice earlier in his career. He left the game early and did not return. A biceps tear would almost certainly end his season, taking arguably the Bucs' best defensive player out of the lineup.

11:09am EDT 9/24/17

Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy (ankle) is active for today's game against the Vikings. He's a solid IDP play in DL slots after registering 4 QB hits in the opening win over the Bears.

The Buccaneers deemed DT Gerald McCoy questionable for Sunday's game at Minnesota. But the veteran progressed from not practicing Wednesday to limited participation Thursday and then full participation Friday. We'd bet on him playing. And after he registered 4 QB hits in the Week 2 win over the Bears, McCoy should be in many IDP lineups. The Bucs D carries attractive upside as well against a Case Keenum piloted Vikings offense. We'll confirm McCoy's status Sunday morning.

3:22pm EST 12/24/16

Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy (foot) is active for today's game against the Saints. The Bucs will be without DL William Gholston, though, who was ruled out earlier with an elbow injury.

Buccaneers S Chris Conte (chest) is questionable for Sunday's game at Dallas. DT Gerald McCoy (foot) and LB Lavonte David (hamstring) are as well. We'll check on the status for all 3 Sunday evening before the 8:25 p.m. kickoff. Conte put in full practices all week and appears likely to return. McCoy put in a full practice Friday and has been playing through questionable tags for a few weeks. David joined the injury report Thursday but put in another limited practice Friday.

The Buccaneers have ruled S Chris Conte (chest) out for the 2nd straight game. That leaves Keith Tandy in the lineup. DT Gerald McCoy (foot) is questionable once again. He followed the same practice schedule last week, though -- out Wednesday and Thursday, limited Friday -- and then played through the issue. We'll check on his status Sunday.

3:18pm EST 12/4/16

Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy (foot) is active for today's game against the Chargers. He missed practice Wednesday and Thursday, though, before putting in only a limited workout Friday. McCoy carries risk and moved down our DL rankings during the week.

Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy (foot) is questionable for Sunday's game at San Diego. McCoy said earlier in the week he'd play, but he missed practice Wednesday and Thursday before putting in a limited workout Friday. He was also reportedly in a walking boot earlier in the week. McCoy seems iffy even if he plays. We've moved him down the Week 13 DL rankings and will check on his game status Sunday.

The Bucs will get DE Robert Ayers (ankle) back today against the Raiders for the 1st time since he suffered an ankle injury back in Week 2. It's tough to expect a return to full playing time, but Ayers should play enough to be in IDP consideration. Oakland presents a poor matchup for sack upside. DT Gerald McCoy (calf) is also active despite entering the day questionable. He played last week and is OK to use as you normally would.

Buccaneers DE Robert Ayers (ankle) appears likely to return this weekend for his 1st game since Week 2. He's questionable for Sunday's game against the Raiders after putting in limited practices Wednesday and Thursday and a full workout Friday. DT Gerald McCoy is also questionable with the calf strain that has bothered him for several weeks. McCoy began this week off the injury report but showed up Wednesday and Thursday with only limited participation. DT Clinton McDonald (quad) will miss his 3rd straight game. He put in limited practices all week, so perhaps he'll be ready for Week 9.

2:59pm EDT 10/23/16

Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy (calf) is active today against the 49ers after missing last week's game. That helps a Bucs D that carries loads of upside.

Bucs DT Gerald McCoy is doubtful for Monday night's game after his calf injury kept him out of practice all week. His likely absence should put Clinton McDonald in more playmaking situations against an iffy Panthers O-line

Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy left Sunday's game against the Broncos with a calf injury and is doubtful to return. That's a big blow for an already bad defense and takes a top DT out of IDP lineups. We'll see about his outlook beyond this week.

The Buccaneers will have stars OLB Lavonte David (ankle) and DT Gerald McCoy (hand) in the lineup for today's meeting with the Saints. David hurt his ankle midweek but seemed confident after Friday's practice. He's fine to use in your IDP lineup as you normally would. McCoy had hand surgery less than 2 weeks ago and has been dealing with a shoulder injury for a while. He's more of a risk/reward option. Having both in the lineup adds upside to the Bucs' team D in fantasy.
