James Starks Fantasy Football News | Shark Bites

The Packers have released RB James Starks. He averaged an ugly 2.3 yards per carry before a concussion ended his 2016 campaign. Turning 31 later this month, Starks will need to battle just for a roster spot this summer. He's droppable in keeper and dynasty leagues.

Packers RB James Starks (concussion) remained sidelined all week and is out for Saturday’s game against the Vikings. His absence just makes RB Ty Montgomery’s workload a bit safer.

Packers RB James Starks (concussion) has been downgraded to out for today's game against the Bears. He couldn't clear the protocol after sustaining a concussion in a car accident on Monday. Ty Montgomery and Christine Michael will handle backfield duties today. Montgomery is the better fantasy play but is just a low-end starter -- whether you use him at RB or WR.

Packers RB James Starks (concussion) is doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Bears. It sounds like he has multiple stages of the protocol to pass through still. Starks is off the fantasy radar anyway, but his absence is a slight boost to RB/WR Ty Montgomery.

Packers RB James Starks missed Wednesday's practice with a concussion. It's the 1st we've heard of the brain injury and puts his Week 15 status in question. Starks has fallen off the fantasy radar, but his absence would give Ty Montgomery a boost.

Packers RB Christine Michael led the team with 10 carries in Sunday's win over the Seahawks. He managed just 36 yards, though, and watched Ty Montgomery plunge in the 1-yard TD in the 2nd quarter. Michael also didn't draw any targets. He'll need to do more to enter fantasy consideration, and we're a little low on time for that to happen this season.

The forecast for today's Texans-Packers game calls for 1-3 inches of snow. Wind won't be a major factor, though, at just 5-10 mph. Green Bay's passing game is safe to keep in fantasy lineups. There's nothing safe about Houston's passing game, but that has nothing to do with the weather.

RB Christine Michael is expected to make his Packers debut against the Eagles next Monday night, according to HC Mike McCarthy. "We've had enough time now to get him acclimated," McCarthy said. "We'll definitely look to have him part of the offense." We'd be surprised if Michael saw more than a handful of touches, so he shouldn't be in Week 12 fantasy lineups. But he does put a slight dent in RB James Starks' outlook.

Packers RB James Starks (knee) is active for today’s game against the Titans. He remained limited in practice this week and was reportedly a game-time decision. We’re not expecting a big workload for Starks in his 1st action since Week 5. RB Don Jackson is a healthy scratch today.

Packers RB James Starks (knee) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Titans after a limited week of practice. Signs point toward Starks playing, but it’s unclear how much action he’ll see. He’s a risky, low-end RB3 for Week 10.

ESPN's Rob Demovsky considers Packers RB James Starks (knee) a "good bet" to return for this weekend's game against the Titans. He's been out since undergoing surgery on October 16 but resumed practicing last week. Starks should eventually take over as Green Bay's lead back, but he figures to be eased back in on Sunday. He's just a RB3 or flex option. His return does dent the value of Ty Montgomery, though, who's been playing most of his snaps at RB. We'll see if he gets more time at WR now.

Packers RB James Starks (ankle) is out for Sunday's game against the Colts. He put in a pair of limited practices this week and seems to be eyeing a Week 10 return. Green Bay will go another game with Ty Montgomery as its primary RB.

Packers insider Tom Silverstein considers RB James Starks (knee) "highly unlikely" to play against the Colts on Sunday. Starks returned to practice this week after undergoing mid-October knee surgery, but it sounds like Green Bay is gearing him up for Week 10. His absence on Sunday will again leave the Packers with virtually no running game. It's good news for QB Aaron Rodgers and his pass-catchers.

Packers RB James Starks (knee) practiced on Wednesday for the 1st time since undergoing knee surgery on October 16. He was limited, and HC Mike McCarthy hinted that Starks is no lock to play this weekend. But he's clearly getting close. A healthy Starks figures to take over as Green Bay's lead back and is worth owning in fantasy leagues of 10+ teams.

The Packers have released RB Knile Davis, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. That was quick. Acquired on October 18, Davis carried only 5 times for 5 yards across 2 games. Green Bay is left with Don Jackson and James Starks at RB (plus hybrid player Ty Montgomery). Starks hasn’t played since Week 5 due to a knee injury.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Packers RB Eddie Lacy needs foot surgery and will be place on the IR. It's unclear if he has a chance to be the player designated for return. But even that would keep him out until at least Week 15. Lacy can safely be dropped in all redraft league. With RB James Starks expected to miss a few more weeks, newly acquired Knile Davis suddenly finds himself atop the depth chart. We don't love the player, but the situation makes him worth owning in most fantasy leagues. We'll see if the Packers promote undrafted rookie RB Don Jackson from the practice squad. ESPN's Rob Demovsky expects WR Ty Mongtomery to handle the majority of the backfield snaps against the Bears tonight.

The Chiefs have traded RB Knile Davis to the Packers. He's been bandied about as a trade candidate for the past couple of seasons after falling out of favor in Kansas City. The 5'10, 227-pounder looks the part but has never averaged better than 3.5 yards per carry in a season. Davis heads to a Packers backfield that has a banged-up starter and a backup expected to miss a month. He should quickly assume a role and could even be a spot starter if Eddie Lacy misses time with his ankle issue. Davis is worth adding at least in deeper fantasy leagues.

Packers RB James Starks is expected to miss "about 4 weeks" after undergoing knee surgery on Sunday, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Green Bay's #2 RB isn't worth hanging on to in most fantasy leagues. The Packers figure to add a RB within the next couple of days with Eddie Lacy playing through a bum ankle.

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports that Packers RB James Starks had knee surgery on Sunday morning and is expected to miss a "couple of weeks." He's averaged 6 carries and 2.5 targets per game this year. The majority of that work figures to go to RB Eddie Lacy.
